    Position Overview

    The Instructional Coach, Lead (Coach) serves as a critical lever in improving student achievement at Imagine Schools Riverside County (ISRC). The Coach builds teacher capacity and understanding of instructional practices as related to Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and data driven instruction. The Coach will support high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and providing feedback to teachers. The Coach role is not a supervisory position and does not include formal evaluation of colleagues.

    Performance Responsibilities

    Support Understanding of Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Data

    Supports the instructional development of all teachers in understanding CCSS, the curriculum, and varied assessments.

    • Provides direction and coordination for curricular pacing and needed differentiation.
    • Assists teachers with resources, materials, tools, and information to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
    • Supports teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels.

    Direct teacher supports

    • Conducts frequent observations of teacher practice and provides feedback.
    • Develops coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement; document coaching logs and related data.
    • Supports improved teacher practices through modeling and co-teaching lessons in classrooms.
    • Supports teachers in review of data/student work.
    • Builds strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches to support effective feedback cycles.

    School-wide Leadership

    • Articulates an instructional vision that is data-driven, standards-aligned, and rooted in a belief that all students can achieve at high levels.
    • Conducts trainings/professional development sessions based on individual and school-wide needs.
    • Creates coaching and professional development schedule in collaboration with the school administration.
    • Provides support and guidance to various collaborative teams within the building.
    • Contributes to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice.
    • Tracks student and teacher progress to assess the effectiveness of coaching.
    • Attends training sessions as applicable.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the principal and/or Regional Director.

    Experience, Education, and Credentials

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
    • Valid and appropriate CA Credential required
    • Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience
    • Teacher leadership experience preferred
    • Experience in K-8 education preferred
    • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
    • Valid California Driver License
    • Fingerprint criminal justice clearance
    • Tuberculosis clearance

    Classification

    This is a full-time, exempt position based on a full year calendar cycle and supports our two schools in Riverside County (Coachella and Hemet). The Instructional Coach, Lead will work at of the Coachella campus but can expect periodic travel to Hemet for collaboration.
