    Description

    What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation’s leading voice on mental health. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

    Today, we are an alliance of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and a national office that work in communities across the United States to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need. NAMI advocates for all who are affected by mental illness, both the individuals and the people in their lives. We work to address disparities and injustices and to promote dignity and inclusion for all people with mental illness and their families. In addition to being advocates, we educate, we listen, and we lead as evidenced by our public awareness campaigns, the range of programs we provide, and our strong public policy.

    We currently have an opening for a Coordinator, Field Capacity Building. The Coordinator, Field Capacity Building, will allocate their time to providing overall technical and administrative support to the National Director, Field Capacity Building and the Field Capacity Building team. The Field Capacity Building team supports NAMI’s vast and diverse grassroots network, including State Organizations and Affiliates across the U.S. through technical assistance and training to help them build organizational capacity.

    The Coordinator position requires an individual who is highly organized, skilled, detail-oriented and dependable; has strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills; and can provide excellent customer service. This individual may also take on other duties regularly associated with office management, including e-filing, creating memos and reports, and performing other administrative duties.

    This full-time position can be Hybrid in Arlington, VA or Remote.

    Salary Range: $23/hr. - $26/hr. (approx. $44,850 - $50,700)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide overall technical assistance and administrative support to the National Director, Field Capacity Building and the Field Capacity Building team.
    • Work with the National Director, Field Capacity Building and Field Capacity Building team to identify, set up and maintain project management systems for assisting with day-to-day operations of the team
    • Provide technical and administrative support to the National Director, Field Capacity Building and Field Capacity Building team in the development and/or implementation of the Operations Plan, which supports NAMI’s Strategic Plan. Assist in the implementation of various aspects of the Operations Plan.
    • Assist in the planning and/or development of technical assistance and training tools and resources for NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates
    • Create survey tools, organize survey data, and develop reports
    • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for the Field Capacity Building team
    • Prepare memos, graphics, reports, presentations and other collateral materials for various internal and external stakeholders
    • Assist in the coordination and maintenance of field capacity building and/or the Alliance Relations department’s content on NAMI’s public facing website and/or internal NAMINet
    • Organize meetings and meeting schedules for the National Director, Field Capacity Building, the Field Capacity Building team, and other internal and/or external stakeholders
    • Review, respond to, manage, and organize emails that come to the general field capacity building inbox and ensure they are directed to the appropriate NAMI staff person
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of the annual Executive Directors’ Leadership Exchange with the National Director, Field Capacity Building.
    • Assist in the planning and execution of field-focused activities including, but not limited to, NAMI’s annual convention, NAMI Alliance Day, among others
    • Perform clerical duties, such as e-filing, taking meeting minutes, and responding to emails
    • Coordinate and manage field communications for the Field Capacity Building team and/or Alliance Relations department
    • Provide strong customer service to NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 1-2 years’ experience in related field/role
    • Excellent organizational skills and highly skilled in prioritizing projects with close attention to detail
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work well with customers and as a contributing member of a team
    • Comfortable working in a demanding, fast-paced, and deadline-based environment
    • Moderate to expert ability to use Office 365 Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
    • Moderate level of experience using project management and productivity platforms including Salesforce, Slack, SmartSheet, Zoom, and others
    • Highly organized and able to create understandable and easy-to-follow systems
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and duties simultaneously
    • Independently motivated with the ability to take on tasks and duties without immediate direction
    • Experience working with grassroots networks, preferred
    • Understanding of mental health as lived experience or education, preferred
    • Experience working with nonprofits, preferred
    • Ability to anticipate and solve problems independently
    • Must pass background check
