    Position Summary

    The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and support to students with neurological and motor disabilities. The Special Education Teacher will create and implement adaptive curricula, provide specialized instruction, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support students' academic and functional development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with neurological and motor disabilities.
    • Adapt lesson plans, materials, and teaching methods to accommodate students’ physical and cognitive abilities.
    • Work collaboratively with therapists, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
    • Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment to support student engagement and independence.
    • Assess students’ progress regularly and adjust instructional approaches as needed.
    • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
    • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports in compliance with school policies and state regulations.
    • Stay current with best practices, legal requirements, and professional standards in both special education and Conductive Education practices.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Expertise in special education services – Possesses understanding of both the compliance and instructional aspects of special education services. Has knowledge of IDEA and other applicable special education laws and regulations. Has familiarity with adaptive learning strategies, educational technology, and assistive devices.
    • Ability to build strong relationships - Builds and cultivates relationships through a commitment to common goals. Is an effective listener who seeks to understand the opinions and experiences of others, an honest and transparent communicator.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Degree in Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or a related field preferred.
    • Valid Arizona teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain certification) required.
    • Teaching experience required; teaching students with special needs, preferred.
    • Experience working with students with neurological and motor disabilities, including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, MS, or traumatic brain injuries preferred.

    Classification

    This is a full-time, exempt 10-month position located in Scottdale, Arizona.

    Compensation and Benefits
