    The Arab American Association of New York (AAANY) is a 501(c)(3) not for profit social service organization located in Brooklyn, New York. Our mission is to support and empower the Arab immigrant community by providing services that will help them to adjust to their new homeland and become active members of American society.     Job description:

    AAANY is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Director of Programs who will lead the daily activities and long term vision of AAANY’s suite of services and advocacy programs. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Programs is responsible for the following:

    1. Overseeing the activities of AAANY’s immigration legal services, social services case management, domestic violence and mental health, adult education, and youth and advocacy programs;
    2. Providing direct support and supervision to AAANY’s program managers; and
    3. Working closely with AAANY’s Leadership team to set programmatic goals and benchmarks, develop programmatic budgets, and ensure prompt and accurate reporting for government and private contracts.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Providing direct supervision to Adult Education Program Manager, Immigration Program Manager, Domestic Violence Program Manager, Communications Manager, Youth Program Manager, and Coalition Organizer; including
      • Meeting regularly with managers one-on-one to provide feedback, support, and guidance;
      • Leading regular programming meetings and check-ins to facilitate cross-department collaboration and promote effective workflows;
      • Ensuring programs are meeting contract deliverables and reporting deadlines;
      • Working with Human Resources Director to ensure that program managers receive the evaluation, training, support, and leadership development that they need to succeed; and
      • Planning the programs from start to completion, including writing scope of work, ensuring meeting reporting deadlines, and compiling final reports.
    • Working directly with ED, Finance Manager, and Director of Development to contribute to organizational vision, strategic planning, fundraising, budget, and staff development
    • Spearheading community events alongside Operations Administrator and Executive Director
    • Working closely with community partners and leaders to foster existing relationships and expand our network of allies and stakeholders
    • Overseeing universal intake procedure and implementation of the centralized database in all departments

    Minimuim Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of nonprofit management experience with progressive leadership
    • Demonstrated experience leading teams
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once
    • Experience developing and managing budgets and grants
    • Strong understanding of NYC policy and philanthropic landscape

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Arabic-speaking a plus
    • Familiarity with one or more core service areas (adult education, social services, domestic violence, mental health, immigration, workforce development, youth development, advocacy and civic education.

    Benefits

    Full-time employees also receive 15 days of paid vacation, also six personal days, eight sick days, fifteen paid holidays, as well, AAANY will be closed for 1 week for summer recess . In addition, the employee is expected to contribute 4% of their pre-tax income to their monthly premium. AAANY will cover the remainder of the individual premium. Any additional insured will be paid by the employee. Only employees who opt in to AAANY’s group policy are eligible for dental & vision coverage.
