    Global Growers Network (GGN) is a nonprofit based in Decatur, GA that partners with people from diverse cultures to grow fresh food for their families and for local marketplaces. We work with 200 growers representing over 20 cultures and languages. We operate a network of community gardens in Decatur and Clarkston, a market farm located at the Indian Creek MARTA station in Stone Mountain, and a 23-acre organic co-farm in Conyers. This position is based at the Conyers farm with some travel to the garden sites in Decatur.

    Position Summary and Candidate Vision

    The Landscape Coordinator will support general site maintenance, landscaping, and special projects at Global Growers Networks’ farm and garden sites. This part-time role involves working outdoors to maintain and improve our sites so they are productive, well-managed spaces for our diverse grower network to grow fresh food for their families and local marketplaces. Many tasks will be consistent week over week, while the work will also vary based on site improvement and special projects. This position will work in collaboration with the Farm Operation Manager and the Garden Operation Manager on needs and projects.

    The ideal candidate for this position is comfortable working outdoors and is organized with excellent attention to detail, a high degree of motivation, and a commitment to staying on task. This is a labor intensive, task oriented role, so self-motivation to complete weekly tasks independently is absolutely necessary.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Maintain farm and garden sites in accordance with predetermined task schedule to include regular mowing, string trimming, limbing, spreading gravel/mulch, fence line clearing, pathway clearing, and waste management
    • Support management of tool/supply inventory across farm and garden sites
    • Maintain organization of tool/storage sheds
    • Support maintenance and safe use of of infrastructure, equipment, and tools, promptly reporting any issues
    • Conduct work in accordance with organizational protocols, including compliance with food safety and organic certification guidelines
    • Support record-keeping at farm and garden sites to track maintenance activities and ensure compliance with health, safety, and organic protocols
    • Additional repairs, routine maintenance and other practical tasks as needed

    Requirements

    • Intermediate spoken English language, plus basic reading and writing skills
    • Lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and be on feet for a full outdoor workday in variable weather conditions
    • Experience with gardening, farming, and/or landscaping
    • Experience with commercial landscape tools, gas powered 2cycle engine equipment, and basic power/hand tools
    • Operate full-size pick-up truck and experience with towing
    • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record (able to be insured on farm vehicles)
    • Reliable transportation to travel between farm and garden sites
    • Experience in handling preventative maintenance, basic repairs, cosmetic upkeep, and simple appliance installations
    • Ability to handle some maintenance related machinery

    Location and Schedule

    This is a non-exempt position requiring approximately 30 hr/week , with an agreed-upon 3 day/week schedule set from Tuesday-Saturday. This position will be based at our organic farm in Conyers, GA, and will be required to float as needed between garden sites in Decatur and Clarkston, GA.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The hourly rate for this position is $18 - $20, commensurate with experience. Benefits include $25/month cell phone stipend.
