OPPORTUNITY:
The Surfrider Foundation is seeking a qualified Grants Manager to increase capacity to generate additional revenue through public and private grant sources. A new role at Surfrider, the Grants Manager will work in close cooperation with the Associate Director of Institutional Giving, the Development Department, and Surfrider’s Environmental team to identify potential funding sources, write compelling grant proposals, develop and manage grant budgets, and ensure compliance with grant regulations. They will assist in tracking grant progress and evaluating the impact of funded programs across the organization. This role is key to Surfrider Foundation’s continued ability to achieve its growing revenue and impact targets in the coming years.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
LOCATION, TRAVEL AND SCHEDULE:
Candidate must be authorized to work in the USA and must have access to reliable internet and phone access (partial reimbursement is available). The successful candidate will have experience working remotely. Travel will be infrequent, with one - two trips per year to Surfrider’s headquarters in San Clemente, California and as other needs or opportunities arise. Working day schedule will mostly follow typical office hours within the candidate’s time zone, with schedule adjustment/extended hours occasionally required as needed (i.e. to meet funder deadlines).

Salary Range: $60,000 minimum - $80,000 maximum

The Surfrider Foundation researches, evaluates, and compares like-sized non-profit organizations to establish ranges for each position level to ensure that employees are justly compensated. The established range takes multiple factors into account; experience, educational background, scope and complexity of work, special skills, added value to the organization, geographic cost-of-living, inflation/current market demand, equity, and more. The Surfrider Foundation prides itself on a high rate of retention, with 32% of staff having been employed with the organization for 10+ years. Please keep in mind that the maximum end of our ranges also account for longevity and tenure within the role.
