    Description

    The Trillium Store Manager oversees the daily operations of the Garden’s gift shop, ensuring a positive visitor experience, managing inventory, supervising staff and volunteers, and maximizing sales and profitability. The manager is responsible for maintaining an organized, visually appealing, and efficient retail space.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include Retail Operations, Customer Service, Sales and Reporting, Staff and Volunteer Management, Product Selection and Inventory Management, and Collaboration with other departments and vendors.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or related discipline or equivalent experience in a related field, such as retail management, preferably in a museum, garden, or similar setting.
    • 3-5 years of retail management required.
    • At least 2 years of direct supervisory experience.
    • Strong understanding of merchandising, inventory control, and retail operations.
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience managing staff and building a collaborative team environment.
    • Proficiency with POS systems and financial management.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Interest or knowledge of gardening, horticulture, or nature-related products is a plus.
    • Effective team leadership skills and cross-functional collaborative capacity. Ability to either take direction or work independently.
    • Ability to directly manage staff, volunteers, vendors, and partners to accomplish professional work assigned including scheduling, evaluating, onboarding, training, and evaluation. Treat all employees and volunteers with respect.
    • Work diplomatically and collaboratively with a diverse group of staff and volunteers.
    • Ability to remain calm and demonstrate flexibility to meet changing needs and expectations.
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Google Applications, and CRM databases.
    • Ability to learn and adapt to the use of new technologies.
    • Maintain a flexible work schedule that includes some evenings and weekends to meet the expectations of executive management.
    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
    • Attendance and punctuality are essential to work and all work-related functions.
