    Description

Do you excel at social media? Are you a technical whiz? Can you write a compelling issue alert, update a website, and design a graphic to call attention to it? If yes, apply to join our team that’s working to win a more progressive Florida. You will work closely with the state’s leading communications team to win critical issue battles and elect candidates that put people first.

We are looking for someone who embodies a strong work ethic, creativity, keen attention to detail, internet-related technical skills, and a passion for winning social change.

    About Us

Founded in 2008, Progress Florida promotes progressive values through digital organizing, public opinion research, media outreach, new and traditional communications strategies and tactics, and close collaboration with Florida's leading civic engagement organizations.

The Florida Communications & Research Hub is a partnership between Progress Florida and Florida Watch that provides communications infrastructure for Florida’s progressive organizations and coalitions. Our digital organizing is driven by research-informed messaging to create engaging, authentic, and Florida- specific content to win the hearts and minds of a majority of Floridians and advance our mission to secure a better future for all Floridians.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Run powerful digital education and advocacy campaigns on issues that include reproductive freedom, pocketbook issues to improve lives, environmental protection, fair courts, healthcare access, strong public schools, restoring our democracy and more.
    • Serve as the team internet technical expert including the ability to update websites (WordPress) troubleshoot online server issues, and manage our CRM and large email activist network.
    • Monitor daily events and breaking news, identifying opportunities to produce creative and engaging digital campaigns, memes, infographics, and website content on “hot”, profound, compelling issues that matter.
    • Grow and nurture our email list of progressive Floridians — deepen support, increase engagement, raise small donor money, and expand the number of monthly sustainers.
    • Write copy for online actions, fundraising appeals, websites, social media, infographics, memes, and other creative projects.
    • Maintain and grow Progress Florida’s social media presence with engaging, relevant content and organic and paid follower growth tactics.
    • Track key metrics throughout our digital program and look for opportunities to test and improve our emails, online fundraising, action campaigns, digital ads, and social media content.
    • Work closely with the Florida Communications & Research Hub team on digital strategies and tactics to help win electoral and issue campaigns.
    • This position requires excellent judgment, discretion and the ability to oversee significant projects.

    Qualifications

You’d be a great fit for this role if you are:

    • A strong writer with excellent persuasive and creative writing skills.
    • Have a passion for advancing progressive issues in a strategic, pragmatic manner that’s focused on winning the hearts and minds of people not yet on our side.
    • Experienced in managing social media accounts and knowledgeable in best practices for social media network growth and engagement including experience with CRMs like NGP/EveryAction, Action Network, ActionKit, etc. and with website tools like WordPress, Elementor, Plesk.
    • Creative with good graphic design skills.
    • Enjoy a fast paced, team-oriented, virtual workplace and thrive when you’re managing multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Motivated to work the flexible hours necessary to win real change in a rapid-response, campaign style environment.

    Great to haves

    • Basic to advanced knowledge of HTML
    • Video production and editing skills
    • Back-end website management expertise
