    Position: HR Assistant

    Department: Human Resources

    Location (s): Manhattan, with travel to the Bronx & Queens

    Reports To: HR Manager

    Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt

    Work Model: Hybrid, 3 days in-office

    Compensation: $55,000 annual salary

    Established by Black and Latina activists in 1984, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is NYC’s only culturally specific organization with a mission to address domestic and sexual violence within Latinx communities. We provide intensive support and services to 3500+ survivors and children every year and reach 10,000+ community members through community events and preventive education workshops. We are dedicated to developing innovative programs that meet the complex needs of our diverse community and that align with our organizational values.

    About The Role

    As an HR Assistant at VIP, you'll be at the heart of our Human Resources operations. You'll help drive recruitment efforts, from posting job ads to coordinating interviews, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience for new hires. You'll maintain accurate employee records, support compliance with labor regulations, and assist with payroll and benefits administration. You'll also play a key role in employee engagement, helping to create a positive workplace through organizing events and handling inquiries. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to contribute to everything from employee relations to office management, making every day a new and exciting challenge!

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or 1-2 years of HR support and administrative experience.
    • Must be based in New York City
    • Fully bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (ADP, BambooHR preferred).
    • SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
