    ORGANIZATION

    Mijente is a digital and grassroots hub for Latinx and Chicanx organizing, building collective power for racial, economic, climate, and gender justice. Since 2015, it has served as a political home, connecting communities across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and beyond through organizing, training, and cultural expression. Mijente creates spaces for learning, collaboration, and healing while challenging systemic injustices. As we grow, we are strengthening our organizing infrastructure and seeking passionate individuals committed to movement-building.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Mijente seeks an Organizer to advance campaigns and programs. The Organizer will activate and support member participation, carry out key campaign tactics and support in projects and events. They may also support local initiatives and education work. They should have intermediate experience and understanding of grassroots organizing, a commitment to member inclusion in organizing work, take initiative and who has project management skills. The candidate should also be familiar with online and digital strategies for engagement.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support and troubleshoot member committees, including project management.
    • Provide support for campaigns, education work, and technical assistance.
    • Implement tactics to pressure targets, mobilize allies, and generate momentum.
    • Provide training, toolkits, resources, and coaching to support member organizing.
    • Organize online and, when necessary and feasible, socially distanced in-person events and mass meetings.
    • Work with the digital team to strategize digital tools for member and partner engagement.
    • Support documentation, data management, and follow-up/turnout efforts.
    • Provide language and copy for digital communications.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience & Skills: 3-5 years in nonprofits, grassroots organizing, or coalition-building; project management; public speaking, online and in-person training, and technical assistance; conflict resolution; and digital organizing strategies.
    • Organizing & Alignment: Strong commitment to racial and social justice organizing, Mijente’s values and theory of change, and member engagement.
    • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent relational, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; receptive to feedback and skill development.
    • Time Management & Adaptability: Strong ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines under pressure.
    • Logistics & Technical Needs: Must have reliable high-speed internet, and the ability to travel on short notice for multiple days with overnight stay.
    • Language: Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred.
