    Position Overview 

    The Development and Communications Manager contributes to and implements communications and fundraising strategies and plans for the organization and provides administrative support for the External Affairs department. The Manager also manages all communication channels, digital and social-media platforms, the website, and press inquiries. Reporting to the Vice President of External Affairs, the Manager is an integral part of the External Affairs team.

    Responsibilities 

    Communications and Marketing 

    • Assist with the development and execution of communication and marketing strategies, including content creation for newsletters, email campaigns, event promotions, social media and public/media relations. 
    • Track and analyze performance metrics across all digital channels to increase engagement and effectively promote NEW’s mission to target audiences.
    • Support video production, photography, and the development of marketing and fundraising collaterals (including press releases). 
    • Manage all organic and paid social-media posts and campaigns. 
    • Manage NEW’s image bank, ensuring proper crediting and organization of visual assets.
    • Update and maintain NEW’s communications calendar.

    Development

    • Develop and implement donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. 
    • Assist with gift processing and fundraising applications. 
    • Assist with External Affairs’ special events, including the annual Equity Leadership Awards Luncheon. 
    • Manage individual giving campaigns, including multi-platform fundraising initiatives and donor pipelines. 
    • Manage NEW’s online giving platform and donor database, ensuring data accuracy and hygiene. 
    • Coordinate event communications, RSVPs, budgets, and reporting. 

    Administration 

    • Support with the creation of the organization’s press kit and update it as needed. 
    • Manage and update the organization’s branding guidelines and templates for organization’s stationery/presentations and consult with staff regarding their usage. 
    • Create donor acknowledgment letters, event invitations, and marketing materials. 
    • Assist with tasks as directed. 
    • Regularly update and serve as an administrator for the organization’s website, social-media channels, online giving platform, and Salesforce fundraising module. 

    Qualifications and Competencies 

    • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in communications, social-media management, or fundraising. Nonprofit experience and graphic design/photography skills are a plus. 
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRMs, Adobe, Canva, Squarespace and Zoom and Teams platforms. 
    • Availability to work at events outside of office hours as required. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
    • Resourcefulness, adaptability, and flexibility. 
    • High level of organization and project management skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail. 
    • Ability to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and adhering to deadlines.

    Compensation and Benefits 

    The salary range for this position is $65,000-$85,000. NEW offers a generous benefits package, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance; generous PTO; 403b; life insurance; and much more.
