    POSITION SUMMARY & IMPACT

    Join us - we're growing our team! Voyageur Outward Bound School (VOBS) seeks to hire an Impact & Giving Officer! The Impact & Giving Officer will be responsible for helping to grow and build an exceptional fundraising practice and ‘best in class’ effort.

    The role will manage a portfolio of 100-135 prospects/donors capable of joining the Compassion Crew (donors of $1,000+ in a given calendar year). The Impact and Giving Officer will develop and execute moves management, building and implementing strategies to identify and qualify new prospects, move donors through the giving pipeline, and deliver exceptional stewardship. This role fosters meaningful connections that inspire sustained giving, deepen engagement and strengthen the sense of community among supporters who make VOBS mission and work possible.

    As a key member of the VOBS Development team, the Impact & Giving Officer will contribute significantly to increasing contributed revenue, enabling more youth and adults to grow their confidence, resilience, character, and curiosity. By empowering individuals to enhance their own well-being and positively influence others, this role helps bring the transformative mission of VOBS to life.

    In collaboration with the Development Director, the Impact & Giving Officer will support all aspects of fundraising, including donor identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. They will secure meetings, craft compelling proposals, and execute tailored asks to advance organizational priorities and meet annual fundraising goals, in addition to growing giving in their assigned portfolio on an annual basis.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Relationship Management

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors and prospects, ensuring personalized, customized communication and engagement strategies.

    Annual Fundraising Strategy

    • Support the Development Director and the development effort, creating, innovating, and implementing a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to meet annual revenue goals and increases.
    • Pipeline/Portfolio Management
    • Actively move donors through the giving pipeline, identifying and creating opportunities for increased engagement and support.

    Stewardship

    • Ensure proper stewardship of all major donors, including timely acknowledgments, updates on the impact of their gifts, and invitations to school and network events.

    Collaboration

    • Partner with the VOBS team to align fundraising efforts with organizational and program goals and initiatives to serve youth and thriving futures.

    Research and Prospecting

    • Conduct research to identify new major gift prospects and assess the giving capacity of existing and future donors.

    Reporting and Documentation

    • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, gift agreements, and progress in the donor database. Provide reports as requested on portfolio performance and fundraising outcomes.

    Engagement

    • Assist in planning and executing donor activities and other fundraising initiatives that inspire and engage supporters, reinforcing their connection to the organization's mission.

    Safety Management

    • Adhere to local operating procedures, safety policies and emergency procedures as outlined in the field staff manual.

    Requirements

    SKILLS

    Administrative – familiarity with Google Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Kindsight, Funraise (or similar); experience with Salesfoce or similar CRM systems a plus.

    Monitoring – strong attention to detail, ability to find and correct errors.

    EXPERIENCE & LICENSURE

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, business, communications, public relations, or related field OR equivalent work experience.
    • 3+ years of not-for-profit fundraising and development experience, with demonstrated success in increased individual giving.
    • 3+ years direct work experience as a fundraising professional with an individual gift portfolio.
    • Proven track record of successfully securing major gifts and managing donor portfolios.
    • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential preferred.

    WORK CONDITIONS / LOCATION

    • Potential for hybrid work; requires three days per week in the St. Paul, MN office.
    • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.
    • Occasional participation in outdoor events and travel to community locations.
    • Limited weekends or evenings may be required for special events.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Events may have excessive noise and /or require working in close proximity to others

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, operate a computer, telephone and keyboard for prolonged periods of time.
    • Must occasionally be able to lift or carry 15 pounds.
    • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
    • Ability to communicate and exchange ideas with others accurately and concisely.
    • Sufficient visual acuity to operate a computer, assess and design content and evaluate content for accuracy, effectiveness and impact
