    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Hiring/Budgeted Salary or Hourly Range: The budgeted salary range that the university reasonably expects to pay for this position is $75k - $80k

    Full Salary Range: The full salary range for the position is $73k - $87k

    Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the university.

    We are seeking a Director of Communications to work remotely on a full-time 37.5-hour per week basis.

    Summary

    Reporting to the Vice President of University Relations, the Director of Communications will drive strategic messaging, ensuring alignment with Fielding’s mission and vision while enhancing public recognition of its distinguished faculty, students, and alumni. The Director will lead efforts to craft compelling narratives about the university’s evolution, key partnerships, and milestones, strengthening engagement across internal and external audiences.

    This role requires an effective communicator who excels in change communication, media relations, branding, and institutional storytelling. The Director will work closely with leadership to manage communications that reinforce Fielding’s identity as a leader in graduate education, ensuring that all stakeholders—from faculty and staff to alumni and donors—are informed, inspired, and engaged in this exciting next chapter.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in business or humanities, journalism, communications, marketing, or related field. Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

    Minimum five years’ professional work experience in communications, journalism, public relations, brand management, or related field.

    Minimum three years’ experience successfully delivering executive communications requests and producing high-quality communications materials such as magazines.

    Experience in an academic or nonprofit setting is highly desirable.
