    Description

    The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Cap-Haïtien, Haiti.

    In this role, you will be responsible for implementing the established financial management standards across the entire project portfolio in Cap-Haïtien, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the support provided to the success of the programs. You will oversee the financial and administrative processes of each project, ensuring that they are auditable, efficient, and compliant with applicable standards, while exercising financial controls at the project level.

    You will also support the area manager in supervising the administration of the projects and will oversee the Cap-Haïtien office team, including logisticians, administrative assistants, and accountants.

    Additionally, you will provide guidance and technical support to implementing partner organizations (IPOs) on financial management to ensure they meet their contractual obligations to Welthungerhilfe and co-financiers, in compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.

    Your responsibilities

    • Ensure the management of project funds in accordance with the requirements of Welthungerhilfe and co-financiers, including:
      • Project liquidity planning
      • Fund requests and banking transactions
      • Accounting and preparation of end-of-month accounts
      • Preparation of timely financial reports and the financial part of expense reports, in collaboration with the Country Office Financial Manager
    • Ensure rigorous documentation of data, correct account allocation, and the recording of accounting entries in the accounting software
    • Guarantee the internal allocation of costs within a project or between different projects, ensuring correct expense allocation
    • Prepare the necessary documentation enabling the Project Manager to fully assume budgetary responsibility, including tracking expenses and the budget
    • Prepare the annual account closure documents in collaboration with the Project Manager and the Country Office Financial Manager
    • Prepare reimbursements, refunds, and final fund requests to donors
    • Supervise, advise, and manage local administrative staff
    • Carry out purchases and award contracts in accordance with the regulations of Welthungerhilfe and co-financiers
    • Monitor and manage humanitarian supplies and other equipment, ensuring compliance with import regulations, maintaining the accounting inventory, and conducting physical inventories
    • Properly manage the project’s stock and vehicle fleet

    Your profile

    • University degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
    • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in financial administration, project management, and budgeting, preferably in an international context or within a non-profit organization.
    • Desired experience in collaborating with donors, banking institutions, and European Union funding mechanisms.
    • Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and experience with collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams.
    • Excellent understanding of financial regulations, attention to detail, organizational skills, analytical abilities, and strong communication skills.
    • Acknowledgement of the growing importance of data in your field and motivation to develop your knowledge and skills to integrate data-driven approaches into your work.
    • Willingness to receive necessary vaccinations for work in Welthungerhilfe’s intervention countries.
    • Proficiency in both written and spoken French and English.
