JOB SUMMARY
(50%) - Lead efforts to enhance the capacity of ABCT staff, governance, and membership to interact in culturally responsive ways, and to foster an inclusive and welcoming association climate to increase the effectiveness of the association’s mission-driven programs. Help to develop, guide, integrate, monitor, and evaluate equity-related programs and activities across the association in keeping with ABCT’s strategic priorities, policies, and guidelines.
(50%) - Work closely with the chief executive officer, Board of Directors, governance leadership, and other key stakeholders to implement and monitor governance policies and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit governance, risk management, and policy development.
Responsibilities (Health Equity)
I. Engage with key external organizations and other stakeholders to advance the association’s equity in mental health goals. Serve as a spokesperson, champion, and advocate on mental health equity to constituents internal and external of the association.
II. Serve as key staff liaison to the ABCT Health Equity Committee.
III. With equity-focused special interest groups within the association, work closely on initiatives, including but not limited to:
-gender equity
-racial and ethnic diversity in the membership
-equity, diversity and accessibility in the leadership pipeline
-disability rights
-sexual orientation and identity safety
IV. Work collaboratively and effectively with diverse stakeholders and constituents to skillfully navigate divergent opinions and tensions in implementing programs and projects of the association.
V. Demonstrate competence in administration, strategy development, and fiscal management of equity programs.
Responsibilities (Governance)
I. Assist the executive office in planning and executing governance meetings, leadership events, reviewing governance documents, drafting minutes.
II. As part of the executive office, help to plan and coordinate logistics for onsite meetings of the Board and association leadership.
III. Oversee the preparation of governance-related reports and documentation
IV. In conjunction with the Membership Department serve as staff liaison to the Leadership and Elections committee.
-Oversee the nominations and elections process, ensuring a fair and transparent system.
-Manage the nominations and appointments process for volunteer leadership positions.
V. Demonstrate competence in administration, strategy development, and fiscal management of governance programs.
