    Position Overview

    Poder Latinx is seeking a full-time Community Organizer based in Arizona to engage Latinx voters and community members on climate, immigration, and economic justice. This role will focus on grassroots organizing, volunteer recruitment, and direct community engagement to strengthen civic participation and advocacy efforts in the state.

    The Community Organizer will serve as the primary connection between Poder Latinx and local communities, engaging voters through culturally relevant outreach strategies. This role is ideal for someone passionate about grassroots movements, leadership development, and mobilizing Latinx communities to drive systemic change.

    Key Responsibilities

    Community Engagement & Organizing

    • Conduct direct outreach to Latinx communities to educate and mobilize residents around environmental justice issues.
    • Build relationships with local leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to expand community engagement efforts.
    • Organize and facilitate bilingual workshops, town halls, and community meetings on environmental policies and clean energy initiatives.
    • Gather and share community stories to illustrate the impact of environmental policies on Latinx families.
    • Conduct phone banking and door-to-door canvassing to increase awareness and participation in advocacy efforts.

    Advocacy & Policy Engagement

    • Mobilize community members to advocate for local, state, and federal environmental policies, including engaging with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) and elected officials.
    • Support grassroots advocacy efforts, including petition drives, legislative visits, and public testimony at hearings.
    • Educate community members on the connection between climate policies and electoral outcomes, emphasizing participation in elections affecting energy and environmental regulations.

    Volunteer & Leadership Development

    • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers and fellows to support grassroots advocacy and outreach efforts.
    • Develop leadership opportunities for community members to become long-term advocates for environmental justice.
    • Provide ongoing mentorship and training to volunteers and emerging leaders.

    Coalition Building & Partnerships

    • Collaborate with local organizations, environmental groups, and advocacy partners to amplify EcoPoder’s mission.
    • Attend coalition meetings and represent Poder Latinx in collaborative efforts centered on clean energy and sustainability.
    • Work with partners to organize joint events, campaigns, and policy initiatives.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Mission-aligned with Poder Latinx and passionate about civic engagement, climate action, immigrant rights, and economic justice.
    • Minimum 1-2 years of community organizing experience, preferably in grassroots advocacy, civic engagement, or environmental justice.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).
    • Strong understanding of environmental policy, renewable energy, and climate justice.
    • Experience in volunteer recruitment, leadership development, and grassroots organizing.
    • Ability to facilitate workshops and trainings in bilingual settings.
    • Strong public speaking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
    • Experience with digital organizing tools, including voter outreach platforms, phone banking, and canvassing software.
    • Knowledge of Arizona’s political landscape and environmental challenges, particularly in Maricopa County.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Access to reliable transportation for community outreach efforts.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in voter engagement and outreach, including canvassing and phone banking.
    • Familiarity with organizing tools such as MiniVAN, EveryAction, or other CRM platforms.
    • Background in power mapping, identifying key stakeholders, and building strategic relationships.
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Experience leading trainings, workshops, or leadership development programs.
