    Description

For over a decade, 12 Plus has worked with thousands of high-school students to prepare for and access opportunities after graduation. Whether attending a college, learning a trade, or entering the workforce after high school, at 12 Plus, we believe in every student’s potential for success.

Our organization’s impact begins with the Fellows' Initiative. Each year, we recruit a cohort of Fellows: passionate young professionals who empower, challenge, and support students through their post-secondary journeys. Bringing their own unique experiences, Fellows are placed directly in schools and introduce students to a world of ideas, perspectives, and opportunities. From meeting each student on the first day of school to advising them throughout the year to cheering them across the stage at graduation, Fellows are persistent mentors, caring tutors, and trusted advocates.

The Fellows Initiative is a 10-month College and Career Readiness (CCR) engagement that opens a channel for young professionals to not only impact the culture of Philadelphia and Camden public schools but also develop an understanding of these school systems. As a Fellow, you will serve on the frontlines of our mission, equipping students to break through the barriers in their path. We challenge you to create change not only with our students but also within our cities and yourself. Join us in trailblazing the way toward equal educational opportunity.

To learn more about our Fellows’ experience, please refer to our website for our Fellows Packet.

Responsibilities: Working with a small team, under the leadership of their Site Director, Fellows will:

    • build interpersonal relationships with a cohort of students to better understand their individual strengths, needs, and future paths
    • learn and implement different advising strategies such as applying to FAFSA, college, trade school, and workforce development programs
    • implement school-wide 12 Plus programming, with a specific focus on FLIGHT, our post-secondary access programs geared towards Juniors and Seniors
    • Communicate and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and stakeholders to execute programming such as school-wide culture-building events (e.g. Career Week, College Fair)

The ideal 12 Plus Fellow possesses the following skills:

    • Strong adaptive collaboration, communication, and relationship building skills
    • Patience, persistence, and excellence when working with youth and coworkers
    • A willingness to learn, grow, and step out of one's comfort zone
    • Volunteer or professional experience in student advising, education, or community engagement

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Fellows receive a monthly, taxable stipend of $3,000.
    • Fellows receive paid time off (PTO) for personal, sick, and professional development days.
    • Fellows are eligible to enroll in employer-subsidized health insurance (medical, dental, and vision).
    • Fellows receive up to $750 in employer contributions to an FSA or LPFSA tax-advantaged healthcare account.
    • Fellows receive either a monthly public transportation pass or the monetary equivalent as a fuel reimbursement.
    • Fellows who demonstrate proficiency in Spanish are eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus.

Lastly, in addition to your resume, we ask that applicants submit either a thoughtful cover letter OR a piece of work that best represents your passion and excellence in a field of interest (essay/articles, video, portfolio, passion project etc).
