    Job Title: ​Accounting Administrator​

    Reports to: ​Director of Finance and Administration​

    Supervises position(s): ​Accounts Payable Specialists (2); Contracts and Grants Accountant; Grants Accountant​

    Office Location: Renton, WA

    Worksite Designation: Hybrid

    Live in the Puget Sound Region of the State of Washington with a reasonable commute to Renton, WA. Approximately 50%—75% of the work is telework, and 50%—25% is in-person at our office. Must come into the office on an as-needed basis.

    Organizational Overview:

    The SEIU Healthcare 1199NW Multi-Employer Training Fund (Training Fund) is a non-profit, labor/management partnership including eight major healthcare employers and the largest healthcare union in Washington State. The Training Fund was formed in 2008 and is a statewide program that addresses the workforce needs of participating employers and supports the career, knowledge, and skill aspirations of SEIU Healthcare 1199NW members. The Training Fund is the sponsor of the state-registered Health Care Apprenticeship Consortium (HCAC) and of the Virtual Healthcare Institute (VHI) serving a range of regional employers, unions, union members, and student candidates.

    Position Overview:

    This position reports to and is a trusted partner of the Director of Finance and Administration. The Accounting Administrator manages accounting functions of the organization, including grants and contracts, program, and accounts payable. The Accounting Administrator will work closely with Accounting staff to provide Leadership with accurate, time-effective information on the organization’s financial status. This role will be responsible for upholding and streamlining ethical accounting processes and procedures, maintaining strong relationships with external vendors, and ensuring compliance with financial audits, tax returns, reporting, and payroll. This role requires effective collaborative leadership skills, as well as the ability to self-motivate.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Supervise Accounting Staff
    • Developing and coaching staff
    • Directing and coordinating the work of staff
    • Perform regularly scheduled performance reviews
    • Provide training and guidance for staff, leveraging strengths and reaching optimal individual and organizational goals

    Essential Job Functions:

    Incumbent must have the skills, abilities and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation:

    • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports with information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts
    • Prepare monthly financial statements and provide regular, timely reports to Director of Finance and Administration
    • Assist leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process, as well as provide regular reports through the year on results to actuals and any significant variances
    • Ensure annual financial statement audits, tax returns, reports, and statements are timely and adhere to all regulatory and compliance requirements
    •  Analyze and reconcile all accounting documents and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy
    • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices, check requests, payroll, and grant billing
    • Maintain and develop efficient, GAAP-compliant accounting and financial management policies, procedures, and practices
    • Liaise with external vendors and auditors
    • Maintain appropriate internal controls
    • Keep up to date all organization financial policies and procedures
    • Keep the organization abreast of all changes in accounting and tax regulations
    • Assist the Director of Finance and Administration in additional duties as needed

    • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s databases, including, but not limited to Blackbaud’s Financial Edge, Paychex, Salesforce, Monday.com, Sharepoint, etc.

    • Experience working with diverse populations and addressing participants’ unique needs
    • Ability to follow privacy policies and respect for confidential information

    Desired Skills and Experience:

    • Ability to work with and advance engagement with employer partners, labor unions and staff and to collaborate effectively in labor/management settings 
    • Proven record of working collaboratively to meet performance goals
    • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of accounting, finance and auditing preferred
    • Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, etc.
    • A track record in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of public and private funding
    • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience

    Required Items:

    • Successful completion of background check is required
    • Valid Washington State Driver’s License and access to a reliable insured vehicle
    • Needs to live in or move to the State of Washington in assigned region.
    • COVID-19 complete vaccination, shot documentation required or proof of meeting state or federal law, including medical disability under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, for not vaccinating
    • Candidates will be evaluated on their lived and learned experience, professional background, volunteer experience and direct and transferable skills.

    Educational Requirements:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
    • Must be able to access and navigate the TF’s facilities, partner organizations, and classroom locations
