    Description

    Founded in 1896 as both an educational and service organization, the American Guild of Organists (AGO) seeks to set and maintain high musical standards and to promote understanding and appreciation of all aspects of organ and choral music. The mission of the AGO is to foster a thriving community of musicians who share their knowledge and inspire passion for the organ. Our members have the opportunity to connect with over 10,000 other musicians and music lovers in 250 chapters.

    Summary:

    This position requires excellent customer service skills when answering phone calls, serving as the primary point of contact in providing support for existing and prospective members. Has excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written communications), and professional demeanor in servicing members. Is proficient with data entry and knowledgeable with Microsoft Office, Google applications and is extremely familiar with iMIS membership database software. Experience with Higher Logic, a plus. Has knowledge of operations within chapter structured associations. This position will be based on site at AGO headquarters five days a week, and reports to Chief Membership Officer.

    Essential Functions:

    • Prepare and oversee administration of monthly membership renewals, new member applications, invoicing of dues, and related member communications.
    • Answering all phone calls, as the primary point of contact for all members.
    • Assists in processing new memberships and renewing memberships over the phone with payment by credit card.
    • Handles reconciliation of membership dues and donations sent by check.
    • Tracks outstanding payments and updates and maintains complete record-keeping in the association management iMIS database software.
    • Supports chapter officers and volunteers in solving chapter member issues and provides assistance in retrieving reports that are accessed in iMIS.
    • Tracks membership metrics for board reports and internal analysis.
    • Handles incoming and outgoing mail.
    • Assist with the distribution of content for member communities in AGO’s online community platform, as needed.
    • Implement new membership procedures as identified.
    • Resourceful and comfortable working in a small team environment where daily interaction will be primarily virtual, and self-sufficiency is essential.
    • Provides additional administrative support, as needed.

    The ideal candidate will have the following position requirements:

    • Strong understanding of chapter structured association membership programs and procedures, especially those related to dues management.
    • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks concurrently, work independently and take initiative.
    • B.A.
    • Practical knowledge, skills and abilities usually acquired through an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.

    Salary Range: $46,750 - $59,500, commensurate with experience and qualifications
