    Description

    The Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF) seeks an initiative-taking and highly motivated Chief of Staff for ECF’s new President and CEO to provide executive support for the Office of the President. Founded 75 years ago, ECF is an independent, lay-led, non-profit organization serving Episcopal faith communities. It supports the growth and vitality of lay leadership, endowment management services, and comprehensive digital resources to strengthen the mission of the Church in these changing times.

    The Chief of Staff reports directly to the President and CEO, Dail St. Claire, and serves as the primary point of contact and a liaison with the Board of Directors, selected ECF dioceses and parishes, organizations, lay leaders, and clergy. The Chief of Staff manages organizational communications for the Office of the President.

    The Chief of Staff must be creative and enjoy working in a mission-driven, results-focused, and community-oriented environment. The ideal individual will be able to exercise sound judgment in a variety of situations and will possess strong written and verbal communication as well as administrative, organizational, and networking skills.The ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities is imperative. The Chief of Staff must be able to work under pressure at times and to manage a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

    Executive Support

    • Provide comprehensive support services to the President that ensure outstanding communication and responsiveness
    • Provide calendar management; prioritize inquiries and requests, troubleshoot conflicts
    • Manage selected scheduling and travel logistics for the President
    • Prepare and edit correspondence, internal and external meeting minutes, and presentations
    • Facilitates cross-team coordination of projects
    • Support the President with internal and external communications, including social media, print and electronic media
    • Support the President with donor/funder relations
    • Support and manage a high volume of requests and projects in a timely and thorough manner to meet the objectives of the President
    • Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow through on projects to successful completion
    • Organize meetings and oversee events for various Board and staff, and related logistics
    • Serve as a liaison to staff, consultants, and other selected partners
    • Maintain quality filing and communications systems, including contact and document management and archiving
    • Assist in other administrative and communication tasks as needed

    Board Support and Liaison

    • Serves as the President’s administrative liaison to ECF’s Board
    • Maintains discretion and confidentiality in relationships with all board members
    • Organize Board Zoom and in-person meetings, travel and other logistics
    • Manage event consultants for in-person Board meetings and events
    • Manage administrative board communications, meeting preparation, and recordkeeping

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
    • Proven experience as a Chief of Staff or equivalent experience (5 years)
    • Familiarity with the non-profit sector, knowledge of The Episcopal Church, structure and network is strongly preferred
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to take initiative, multi-task, be a team player, be flexible, adapt to shifting priorities, and prioritize work
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with diverse audiences
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills, commitment to accuracy, and attention to detail
    • Ability to access a wide range of sources and networks for information
    • Good judgment and ability to function independently
    • Handle work with respect, integrity, and collaboratively
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy
    • Experience with digital resources and social media
    • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce, and other relevant software applications
    • Protection of the President’s time by anticipating needs, proactively addressing potential situations
    • Ability to travel, as requested

    This is a full-time position with a competitive salary depending on experience and competitive benefits and a salary ranging from $82,000 to $92,000 depending on experience. ECF is located in New York City, and the position may be in office, remote or hybrid.
