    Description

    Summary: This position reports directly to the Director, SSJ Welcome Center, located in the Kemsignton section of Philadelphia. Incumbent manages communications across media platforms; oversees the planning, execution, and promotion of events.

    • Commits to the Mission/Vision of the Sisters of Saint Joseph
    • Advocates for immigrant rights
    • Infuses the charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph into communications approach and

    event organization

    • Maintains the budget allotted for communications and event expenses
    • Drafts social media posts and manages various media accounts (Facebook, Instagram,

    YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)

    • Implements strategies that increase the Center’s presence and effectiveness on social

    media

    • Manages website with updated content in relation to SEO
    • Designs seasonal newsletter (three issues)
    • Writes the minutes for team meetings and the monthly annals
    • Plans, executes, and promotes events that further highlight the Center’s mission;

    collaborates with the Advancement Committee of the Advisory Board

    • Designs graphics/materials for events
    • Assesses the success of events; envisions events that introduce new friends to the

    Center’s mission and foster a spirit of equity

    • Serves as the primary contact for event vendors; researches new vendors with whom to

    partner

    COLLABORATING PARTNERS BEYOND THE WELCOME CENTER:

    • SSJ Communications Office: assists with any video media
    • Advancement committee (Advisory Board): plans, executes, and promotes events

    EDUCATION: BA/BS in Communications, Marketing, English, Event Management, a related

    field, or comparable experience

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Design work in a variety of platforms: Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.), Google

    Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva, Constant Contact

    • Website design and/or management (WordPress)
    • Event coordination

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Strong writing ability with attention to detail, grammar, cohesiveness
    • Visionary mindset
    • Willingness to draft and revise in collaboration
    • Interpersonal/relationship building
    • Flexible mindset working with people of diverse backgrounds and capacities

    Other Desired Qualifications:

    Experience working in a nonprofit/mission-driven organization
