    Worker Power is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization dedicated to raising working and living standards for working people through voter engagement and strategic policy interventions.

    Worker Power seeks to hire a dynamic and experienced Finance Director to manage and oversee all fiscal functions for Worker Power, as well as our 501(c)3 partner organization Worker Power Institute and Worker Power PAC, our 527 Federal Super PAC.

    Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Director’s primary functions will be to oversee the development of the annual budget, monitor cash flow for the organizations, provide monthly financial reports to the Executive Director and work with Worker Power’s accountants to make sure invoices are paid, inter-organization billing is completed, and yearly audits and tax filings are completed expeditiously. The Finance Director will also work with Worker Power’s compliance firm to make sure the organizations file complete, accurate, and timely campaign finance reports.

    Hours & Location: Worker Power’s Finance Director will work out of our Downtown Phoenix office. (This is not a remote position.) The position is salaried, and can entail long and irregular hours, which may include evenings and weekends.

    Responsibilities:

    • Write organizational and project budgets, under the direction of the Executive Director
    • Work with Worker Power’s Accounting Firm to make sure all of the C3, C4, and PAC expenditures are tracked and coded according to sound accounting practices.
    • Produce regular and accurate profit and loss, balance sheet and budget vs. actual reports for the Executive Director and Board
    • Work with the compliance firm and attorneys to oversee campaign finance reporting for the C4 and PAC
    • Manage document retention for the organizations in accordance with IRS regulations, funder guidelines, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Work with accountants and independent auditor to complete annual 990 returns and independent audits.

    Requirements:

    • At least 5 years experience in non-profit or political compliance, finance, and/or operations. (Applicants without experience in these areas will not be considered under any circumstances).
    • Demonstrated ability to create organizational and project budgets.
    • Expertise with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Google Suite (especially sheets), and Quickbooks or similar accounting software.
    • Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality on all financial matters.
    • Excellent attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
