    Who we’re looking for

We’re a small team taking on the monumental challenge of democratizing access to academic support. That means we need team members who are excited by autonomy and willing to work on projects outside the scope of their job description if needed. We also look for candidates who have a personal connection to our cause or a demonstrable interest in education or serving low-income populations.

    Our team

    • We’re a remote-first team located across the U.S.
    • We highly value diversity of experiences & perspectives. The majority of the team are people of color, and many of us have experience growing up low-income or navigating nontraditional educational pathways
    • We believe working full-time means 40 hrs/wk. Non-work stuff is important too!
    • We get together in person 1x/year at a staff retreat, designed to foster connections and give our team a break from their day-to-day work

    Our benefits

    • 3 weeks paid vacation AND 20+ paid holidays (including Dec 24-Jan 1)
    • Flexible work schedule (choose your own hours)
    • $1000 annual professional development budget

    • Half-day Summer Fridays

    Job Description

Locations: CA, IL, or NJ/NY preferred. Open to other U.S. locations with the expectation of 30% travel.

Are you driven by a passion for educational equity and eager to make a real impact at a fast-growing edtech startup? At UPchieve, we’re on a mission to provide free, on-demand tutoring and college counseling to millions of low-income students, but we need your help!

As our Senior Manager of School Partnerships, you’ll play a key role in UPchieve’s trajectory by bringing our first cohort of paying partner schools to renewal. We’re looking for both a hands-on relationship builder and strategic thinker. The ideal candidate will be just as excited about helping individual schools and districts get the most out of UPchieve as they are about learning how to develop a partnership model that unleashes UPchieve’s potential for scale.

Given our early stage, you'll help shape the direction of UPchieve’s partnerships and team culture. Think startup energy, nonprofit purpose. Come make your mark on the world’s best tutoring platform for low-income students!

This might be the right job for you if:

    • You feel a strong connection to and care deeply about our low-income middle and high school students and the schools dedicated to their success
    • You’re a natural and opportunistic relationship builder. You can’t help but think strategically about each email and conversation as a chance to move a partnership forward.
    • You’re resourceful and persistent. You have a knack for getting people to say “yes” even when it seems impossible.
    • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and excel at turning new ideas into reality, especially when there’s no playbook to follow.

    What you'll do:

    • Own the relationship lifecycle of 25-35 school partners, including our first cohort of paid partners, from onboarding to implementation to renewal. This role may require up to 30% travel for in-person presentations.
    • Work with school and district leaders to identify the most important paths to renewal in a partnership from day one.
    • Use data from experiments conducted in your partner schools to identify the most promising stakeholders, communications, and implementation strategies that will ensure renewals from UPchieve’s partner schools.
    • Collaborate closely with the schools’ product team to help identify and test new product features and solutions to increase usage and impact.
    • Help UPchieve build its standard operating procedures for school and district partnerships, including identifying best practices, key milestones, implementing new technologies, etc.
    • Create and maintain assets like videos, posters, and email communications for partner schools (with support from our designer).
    • Provide technical support to schools, including setting up Clever integrations and troubleshooting issues for teachers and students (with support from our tech team).

    Preferred Experience

These are some experiences we believe would make a star candidate, but they aren't the only things that could do that. You don't need to check all the boxes to apply.

    • 5+ years of experience in school partnerships, edtech customer success, or a related role.
    • Strong track record of bringing school and district partners to renewals.
    • Experience developing early stages of partnerships at a startup and building processes to scale them.
    • Experience driving high utilization of edtech tools at Title I high schools in the U.S.
