    USGBC-CA  Director, Workforce Development 

    Join our growing team and support the U.S. Green Building Council California (USGBC-CA’s) initiatives in leading the local Green Building Movement. As our Director, Workforce Development, you will innovate, plan, implement, manage and grow our workforce development initiatives. This position is slated to begin January 1, 2025 and will be an integral part of our small, but mighty USGBC-CA team.

They are eager to help develop the green workforce of the future, engage with our diverse community of expertise to help support that process, and are innovative, yet detail-oriented, flexible, and ready to get in the trenches to help drive market transformation throughout California. . 

     

    TASKS:

    • Innovate, expand and coordinate the activities and impact of USGBC-CA’s workforce development initiatives, including managing all associated grants and programs milestones and reporting.
    • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts by expanding our training initiatives to underserved communities across California to build the workforce of the future. 
    • Support development for training and workforce development related grant applications and foundation proposals as well as regional partnerships and collaboration throughout the state.
    • Develop and maintain key collaborations with government & educational institutions, training partners and businesses to further our mission and leverage resources. 
    • Lead creation of a statewide workforce development framework, including collaboration across trades, industry, local government, and environmental justice partners. 
    • Support continued development of the USGBC-CA Learning and Career Centers into the centralized hub for green building workforce and talent development.
    • Support delivery of career fairs with the participation of key stakeholders as well as industry and community partners from the green building industry.
    • Represent USGBC-CA at meetings with partners and in development efforts through presentations, public relations and marketing as needed. 
    • Responsible for outreach to regional partners, schools, and training programs around the growth of USGBC-CA’s portfolio of classes and certificate programs.
    • Oversee the training operations to ensure that the scope of existing and new contracts/grants are delivered satisfactorily within deadlines.
    • Audit, innovate, and collaborate with internal teams to evaluate work streams for contracts and encourage efficiency and effective use of systems.
    • Drive training related revenue growth and curate a portfolio of training classes and content based on community needs and feedback.
    • Collaborate with our team and industry experts to develop leading content for integration into the portfolio of certificate programs for professional development.  
    • Lead, mentor, and manage USGBC-CA staff, contractors, interns, and volunteers to support training or workforce development execution.
    • Management of department and team member KPI’s, driving toward annual goals and contributing to organization-wide strategic planning. 
     

    SKILLS NEEDED:

    • Knowledge of workforce development programs, learning management systems, grant administration, program performance, and management tools and software, and financial reporting.
    • Ability to present publically and align efforts with other initiatives; ability to work with diverse populations that have multiple barriers to employment entry;
    • Any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates ability to perform the duties of the position, including graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Work or other related field. 
    • A minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible program management experience involving direct case management, grant management, job development, local hire leadership and development experience, community engagement, outreach, training, and employment programs experience.
    • 10+ years of managerial experience
    • Ability to drive collaboration and cultivate high performance team members. 
    • GSuite, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, or similar programs.
    • Building design, construction, and operations terminology. 
    • Green building professional certifications such as LEED, WELL, Envision and more are a plus, but not required. 

    TIME COMMITMENT & COMPENSATION:

    This a full-time position, location can be anywhere in California with a requirement to travel to our Los Angeles region monthly. Includes healthcare coverage, 401k, unlimited discretionary PTO/vacation, and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
