    Description

    For more than two decades, Comprehensive Youth Development has helped to transform the lives of New York City’s young people by empowering them to create rewarding futures for themselves and their families. Comprehensive Youth Development is a nonprofit that provides a range of services to youth ages 14-24 to help them complete high school and succeed in college, advanced training and the workplace. We are seeking a Digital Literacy Instructor to work across our program sites.

    Digital Literacy Instructor and Data Support Specialist

    This role entails digital literacy instruction across our three Lower Manhattan high schools and our skills-based job trainings program, development of industry-aligned digital literacy curricula which assists students in their transition to college, certification programs or entry level employment. Additionally, this position has the potential to grow in responsibility in technology and data management.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Identify students' technology strengths and weaknesses through comprehensive evaluations, providing targeted support to enhance their skills.
    • Create and adapt engaging curricula that align with students’ goals and industry standards, ensuring relevance and applicability.
    • Collaborate with site staff to design dynamic lesson plans and instructional material that supports students’ success in college, skills-based training programs or entry level employment
    • Develop clear pathways for students to achieve relevant certifications in Information Technology, including hardware, software, operating systems, networking, and programming.
    • Develop pre- and post- evaluative tools to assess students’ digital literacy proficiency.

    Other Duties

    • Work closely with the Director of Workforce to define clear outcomes and actionable steps for students' post-secondary success.
    • Adhere to all personnel policies and procedures, including attendance requirements, maintaining a reliable presence during work hours.

    Schedule:

    • This is a part-time position between 24 – 40 hours per week.
    • Must be available Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00 am – 5:00pm.
    • Specific hours to be determined later.

    Requirements and Skills:

      • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field
      • Proven experience in curriculum development and educational instruction.
      • Understanding of data systems and usage
      • 2+ years of experience as an instructor
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Excellent organizational skills
      • Drive to succeed
      • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments
