    ROLE SUMMARY:

    The Development Officer will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of individual mid-level gift and family foundation donors up to - $10,000. You will also work closely with the Director of Individual Giving and Strategic Communications and Brand Partnerships Manager on the creation and oversight of mass market campaigns. You will be directly responsible for building donor engagement strategies consistent with standard moves management operations and populating all relevant information and cultivation steps in our donor CRM.

    Although some research support is available, you will ultimately be responsible for your own prospect research and will share responsibility for monitoring and identifying new areas of opportunity for mid-level gifts.

    You will also support Right To Play USA’s annual gala event as it relates to fundraising efforts, and other community engagement events and activities as assigned. This is a hybrid working opportunity with a minimum of two days per week in our NYC office.

    The Development Officer role will be required to travel domestically (up to 15%) and to work/travel on occasional evenings and weekends.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    1. Research and Donor Prospecting (15% of Time)
      • Utilizes research to inform donor engagement activities and moves-management for current, lapsed, and new donors.
      • Leads research and qualification of new donor prospects utilizing iWave donor research database.
    2. Events (25% of Time)
      • Organizes major donor cultivation and stewardship events in coordination with National Director and Director, Individual Giving.
      • Supports Individual Giving team on signature fundraising events as needed.
      • Leads planning, recruitment, and fundraising strategies related to RTP’s participation in the NYC Marathon.
    3. Donor Management and Reporting (25% of Time)
      • Builds and manages a portfolio of individual mid-level and family foundation donors giving between $1,000 and $10,000 annually.
      • Develops donor strategies and stewards relationships to grow financial support for RTP’s unrestricted revenue.
      • Proactively utilizes Mission CRM database for donor management and reporting, participates in global calls to remain informed of all updates as it relates to the organization’s CRM.
      • Supports the creation and implementation of strategic mass market campaigns in collaboration with Strategic Communications Manager.
    4. Relationship Management and Stewardship (25% of Time)
      • Participates in monthly portfolio meetings with fundraising team members and National Director with plans for cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of lapsed and current donors, and weekly 1:1 meetings with the Director of Individual Giving.
      • Engages donor cultivation and fundraising solicitations and supports involvement with appropriate research and briefing materials.
      • Together with the Director of Individual Giving is responsible for annual fundraising goal of approximately $2-3 million+. There will be a strong emphasis on retention, reengaging lapsed donors, and identifying new prospects to build a dynamic portfolio.
    5. Performs Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
      • As a frontline member of the development team, creates and implements annual work plan to ensure annual fundraising goals are met/exceeded.
      • Support the establishment and growth of Playmakers, RTP’s young professionals group.

    WHAT YOU’LL BRING (ESSENTIAL):

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related subject or relevant work experience

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Demonstrable frontline fundraising experience focusing on portfolio management with proven success of helping increase giving
    • Experience in CRM software
    • Experience with working in cross-functional teams and matrixed environments

    TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills – includes communication with donors, senior leadership, and colleagues.
    • Excellent listening skills - accepts constructive feedback
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and meets deadlines
    • Excellent computer skills, including competency with standard business applications and database systems
    • Understanding of Event Management Software such as One Cause BidPal, for organizing and promoting fundraising events.
    • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices. Proven experience managing and implementing fundraising events and special projects to engage high-level audiences with high expectations, to achieve key objectives.
    • Familiarity with broader philanthropic community, influencers, and trends in the sector.

    LANGUAGES:

    • Fluency in spoken and written English

    BONUS IF YOU’LL BRING (NOT ESSENTIAL):

    • Previous development experience with an international non-profit desired
    • Knowledge or experience of using donor management systems such as Microsoft’s MCRM, iWave, or Salesforce.
