    The Staff Accountant is a critical member of the four-person Finance and Administrative team and supports finance/accounting functions, so that timely and accurate financial information is available for organizational and program management. This is a part-time position (24 hours per week), based in the Seattle area. This position reports directly to the Senior Finance Manager and will require at least one day a week in the office.

    Duties will include:

    • Manage all financial aspects of contracts
    • Implement semiweekly data integration between the accounting system and CRM
    • Track billing cycles and prepare invoices as needed/required on an ongoing basis
    • Track contract spending
    • Maintain invoice information in the CRM database
    • Enter deposit transactions in the accounting system
    • Manage accounts receivable on an ongoing basis:
    • Draft monthly journal entries
    • Complete monthly Bank reconciliations
    • Become familiar with Cardea’s internal controls and ensure they are maintained appropriately
    • Provide other finance/accounting support as requested

    Qualifications

    • 1+ years of finance/accounting experience; preferably in a nonprofit environment
    • A degree, or equivalent, in a relevant field such as accounting or business; experience can be substituted for education
    • Understanding of accounting theory, GAAP, and government contract accounting requirements
    • Demonstrated record of success in a finance/accounting role
    • Ability to work independently
    • Skilled in Microsoft Office Excel – Intermediate level or above
    • Skilled in accounting software; NetSuite/Oracle a plus
    • Exceptional customer service skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a small, diverse team environment
    • High level of professionalism, discretion, and demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks and in organizing and prioritizing work assignments and ongoing duties for self and other team members
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a wide range of people
    • Ability to rapidly assimilate new information and adjust to dynamic work environment
