Spence-Chapin is seeking a dynamic and creative Video Content Creator to join our team on a contract basis. We are looking for a storyteller—someone with strong videography and video editing skills, and an understanding of social media trends and best practices. We need someone who can take a project from ideation to completion and is excited to help us create engaging, impactful content!

We need someone in NYC willing to travel to our Union Square HQ to film content in-person 2-3 times per month. This will be a 1-month contract, with the opportunity for extension if it is the right fit.

Spence-Chapin is a non-profit organization based in New York City that has been providing adoption services and adoption support for more than 110 years. Spence-Chapin is newly licensed in Arizona. At Spence-Chapin, we believe that every child deserves a family, and we work tirelessly to advocate for children in need of a permanent, loving home. Over our history, Spence-Chapin has served more than 25,000 children, women, and families through our main program areas: Comprehensive Domestic and International Adoption Programs; Birth Parent Services; Well-being Services; and International Humanitarian Aid through programs like our Granny Program to support children living in orphanages overseas.

Our work is made possible by the dedicated individuals on our staff. At Spence-Chapin we find joy in celebrating each other, our co-workers, and our clients. Everyone is treated with respect and dignity to strengthen the vibrancy of our community. We celebrate a culture of excellence, inclusivity, compassion, flexibility, and support. Being part of the Spence-Chapin team is being part of a legacy, which for more than 110 years has provided critical services to children, women, and families around the world.

    Responsibilities:

    • Take high-quality video content at Spence-Chapin’s HQ in Union Square, or other nearby event locations—coordinating with internal stakeholders to gather content, testimonials, and stories for social media use.
    • Edit video content in a visually appealing and engaging way—with timely transitions, closed captioning, graphics, etc.
    • Write and record voiceovers for video content with proper emotion and tone, corresponding to the video’s subject matter.
    • Brainstorm new and compelling ways to engage our audiences with video content on social media.
    • Respond promptly and sufficiently to edits and be able to take a project from ideation to completion.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in video content creation, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
    • Excellent video editing skills, with experience in adobe suite and Canva preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and storytelling.
    • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices.
    • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Creative thinker with a passion for creating engaging content and fostering online communities.
    • Empathetic and compassionate approach to engaging with diverse audiences, including prospective adoptive families, birth families, and adoptees.
    • Photography and photo editing skills are a plus!
