    Description

    Ramapo seeks a strategic, hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join our leadership team and play a critical role in shaping our organization's operational efficiency and financial future. This is a unique opportunity to combine financial expertise with systems upgrades and purpose-driven work that directly impacts the lives of young people.

    As CFO, you’ll be a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and Board, leading all aspects of financial operations, and cross-collaborate with program leadership. You will also lead the audit, strategic budgeting, reporting, and compliance. Ideal candidates have 10+ years experience in the nonprofit sector, a familiarity with working collaboratively on a small staff, and a willingness to work in a hands-on, "roll up your sleeves" organization.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Management, Strategy and Budgeting:

    • Complete all aspects of the organization’s financial operations, including accounting, payroll, procurement, bill pay, and general ledger.
    • Develop and maintain accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Lead budget development and forecasting, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
    • Monitor performance and provide insights into financial performance, making recommendations to optimize spending, increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

    Financial Systems & Reporting:

    • Identify and implement efficiencies in financial processes through technology.
    • Oversee the configuration, testing, and training for new systems.
    • Regularly assess the performance of systems and recommend upgrades as necessary.
    • Lead the design and sourcing of financial reporting software to create customized, interactive dashboards and reports.
    • Develop program-specific financial reports, showing each program's operating income or deficit, to allow for a granular understanding of financial performance.
    • Provide clear and concise financial analysis, highlighting key metrics and trends, to support the CEO and Board of Directors' decision-making.
    • Create visual reports summarizing financial status, including cash flow, expenses, and operational performance, while identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) that inform strategic decisions.
    • Continuously refine reporting methods and dashboards, ensuring they provide actionable insights for better resource allocation and financial oversight.

    Audit Oversight & Compliance:

    • Manage the annual audit process, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
    • Develop and implement an appropriate allocation strategy for all people and expenses to ensure that funds are allocated efficiently and in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and nonprofit accounting standards.

    General Administration and Operations

    • Provide support for organizational leadership, developing strategies and practices that align with organizational goals, strengthen performance, and foster innovation .
    • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
    • Procurement and budget of major capital expenditures and investments, including soliciting bids in partnership with key stakeholders
    • Oversee benefit administration, including annual review of rates and providers, and provide recommendations.
