    Al Otro Lado is a binational legal services and immigrant rights organization serving immigrants, asylum seekers and deported persons in Southern California, Tijuana, México, and beyond. We approach cases using a multidisciplinary, client-centered, abolitionist, harm reduction-based lens, and engage in zealous individual representation, human rights monitoring and impact litigation to protect the rights of individual immigrants and challenge systemic practices that violate the human rights of immigrant communities. We leverage vital partnerships with community-based organizations and academic institutions, and engage thousands of volunteers to maximize our impact and help build a broad-based immigrant justice movement.

    THE DIGITAL MEDIA COORDINATOR POSITION

    The Digital Media Coordinator will be based out of Al Otro Lado’s San Diego office and plays a pivotal role by managing and producing compelling digital content for various platforms. This individual will be responsible for creating engaging photography and videography content, as well as overseeing social media channels to enhance our online presence and support our mission.

    This position is a hybrid position based out of our San Diego office with both in-person and remote work opportunities.

    JOB DUTIES

    The Digital Media Coordinator responsibilities include but are not limited:

    • Content Creation:
      • Develop high-quality visual content, including photographs and videos, to showcase the organization's activities, events, and impact.
      • Collaborate with teams to gather relevant content and ensure alignment with brand guidelines.
    • Social Media Management:
      • Manage visual content for social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
      • Create posts to maintain a consistent and active online presence.
      • Monitor social media trends and implement strategies to increase engagement and reach.
    • Digital Strategy:
      • Contribute to the development of a digital media strategy to effectively communicate the organization's goals and initiatives.
      • Identify opportunities for online campaigns and collaborate with other teams to implement them.
    • Community Engagement:
      • Foster engagement and interaction within the online community, responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
      • Cultivate relationships with influencers and partners to amplify the organization's reach.
    • Analytics and Reporting:
      • Utilize analytics tools to track and analyze the performance of digital content and social media campaigns.
      • Provide regular reports on key metrics and recommend adjustments to optimize performance.
    • Event Coverage:
      • Attend and cover events, capturing key moments through photography and videography for post-event promotion.
    • Perform other duties as needed in keeping with the mission of the organization.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in digital content creation, social media management, and community engagement.
    • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
    • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Passion for and commitment to the organization's mission.

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position starting at an hourly rate of $30/hr and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

    Al Otro Lado’s comprehensive benefit package includes:

    • Health benefits: Al Otro Lado contributes up to 90% of employee medical & 70% of employee dental and vision premiums. Insurance coverage is effective on the 1st of the month following the employee's date of hire.
