    Job Description:

    Dress for Success Worldwide seeks a talented and motivated individual to join our finance team in a hybrid capacity in our New York offices. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Finance Manager will be an integral part of our small, highly productive operations team.

    Essential Functions:

    The Finance Manager’s primary responsibilities are for the preparation of financial reporting and analysis, budget development and forecasting, and the accounting for all payroll and employee benefit activities. This role will support the Chief Operating Officer in the annual budgeting process, support our annual audit process, and be required to perform ad-hoc financial analyses.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the development department in preparation of financial statements for grant applications and reporting; assist with the analysis of external financial statements as required
    • With the Chief Operating Officer, develop consistent transparent methodology for functional expense allocation with emphasis on ease of implementation in support of financial statement preparation
    • Maintain organization restricted revenue tracking including multi-year pledges and grants
    • Prepare bi-weekly payroll journal entry ensuring accuracy and data integrity
    • Prepare bi-weekly retirement plan contributions for payment
    • Ensure accurate accounting of employee benefit activity
    • Prepare and execute bank reconciliations ensuring complete documentation and accuracy
    • Review weekly expense requests for coding and accuracy prior to submittal to accounts payable for processing
    • Assist in preparation of schedules and collection of support documentation for annual audit
    • Review processes with an eye on eliminating bottlenecks and improving efficiency; identify opportunities for additional process automation
    • Prepare, reconcile and maintain schedules for balance sheet accounts such as receivables, prepayments, investment accounts, payables, accruals, deferred income etc.
    • As required, prepare analyses of balance sheet and P&L accounts
    • Monthly reconciliation revenue, including in-kind with development team
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in non-profit finance and accounting.
    • Grant management experience, working with a grant portfolio of multiple funders with various compliance requirements and deadlines within a non-profit setting.
    • Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
    • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Bill.Com or Stampli.com, Microsoft Office, other accounting software for non-profits.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position with a business schedule from Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Employees must work 35 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Limited travel may be required.

    Work Environment

    Dress for Success Worldwide offers a congenial work environment. The dress code is business smart/business casual and employees work on-site in our New York City office three days per week and remotely two days per week.

    Dress for Success Worldwide maintains a COVID-19 weekly testing policy and is taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety and health of our employees, volunteers, and clients.

    Physical Demands

    Employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds in performing regular office duties and managing records, files, and materials.
