    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY

    The Education Trust (EdTrust) seeks an Associate II, Grant Operations to join the organization’s Finance Team. The Associate II, Grant Operations will join a staff at EdTrust committed to fulfilling our mission of closing opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income backgrounds.

    The Associate II, Grant Operations serves an integral part of the Finance team and will collaborate with various teams in the organization in the administration of all phases of nearly two hundred grants that provide critical financial support to EdTrust operations. The Associate II, Grant Operations will be responsible for creating proposal budgets, monitoring compliance, producing funder reports and facilitating budget related meetings for grants awarded to EdTrust.

    Available immediately, this role is based in our Washington, DC office and is eligible for telework for up to three days a week. The Associate II, Grant Operations reports to the Director Grants Management and Finance.

    ABOUT THE ASSOCIATE II, GRANT OPERATIONS ROLE

    The responsibilities and objectives for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Setup and maintenance of grants and grant related data in EdTrust’s financial systems and databases
    • Collaborate with internal grant managers and development teams to prepare budgets and ensure alignment with the scope of work being proposed as well as monitor spending
    • Track and monitor awarded grants to ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions including maintaining grant-related files in alignment with organizational and funder requirements
    • Analyze financial data for compliance and alignment to approved funder budgets and prepare analysis for grant managers
    • Prepare journal entries to reclassify expenses to ensure compliance with funder requirements
    • Maintenance of grant receivables schedules and follow-up on collections
    • Respond to grant related requests from both internal and external partners
    • Analyze grant activities and trends to design and develop financial reports
    • Stay abreast of guidelines and schedules from funders and continuously expand knowledge and capability

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree required and at least 2 years of experience in accounting (preferably in a non-profit environment) or equivalent coursework
    • Knowledge of grant administration and non-profit life cycle preferred
    • Experience with cloud-based accounting systems and databases preferred
    • Demonstrated experience with development and management of grant proposal budgets, budget-to-actual expense variance, and variance analysis
