The General Manager (GM) is a key operational leader responsible for financial management, audience services, technology maintenance, rental management, and facilities operations. This role ensures the smooth execution of EWP’s daily operations and serves as an assistant to the Artistic Director (AD) and Managing Director (MD) as needed. The GM supports the MD in HR-related activities but is primarily responsible for payroll and accounts payable, audience services, technology maintenance, and facility management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Payroll
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with labor laws.
- Handle all accounts payable, including reviewing invoices for accuracy and processing payments.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable files and records.
- Reconcile company credit cards and process expense reports.
- Respond to vendor and employee inquiries regarding invoices, expenses, and check requests.
- Develop and implement efficient accounts payable processes and policies.
Audience Services & Box Office Oversight
- Supervise and direct all audience services activities, ensuring an exceptional patron experience.
- Oversee box office operations, including ticketing, subscription/membership sales, and group sales.
- Maintain and manage Patron Manager (PM) ticketing system, ensuring accuracy in event setup, pricing, and reports.
- Work with marketing to develop ticketing strategies and audience engagement initiatives.
- Forecast sales of single tickets, subscriptions/memberships, and group sales.
- Supervise the Box Office Manager and Audience Services Associate to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure ADA compliance across audience services and facilities.
Facilities & Office Management
- Oversee the care and operation of all EWP facilities, including office spaces, rehearsal rooms, warehouse and scene shop, and performance venues.[1]
- Act as the primary point of contact for landlords, vendors, and maintenance contractors.
- Ensure regular maintenance and upkeep of theater spaces, including HVAC, janitorial services, and technical systems.
- Track facility inventory and oversee purchasing of office and front-of-house supplies.
- Develop and implement office management policies to improve workflow and efficiency.
- Maintain emergency preparedness protocols and security procedures.
- Supervise janitorial and maintenance staff to ensure a clean and functional workspace.
Technology Maintenance
- Oversee and maintain all IT systems, including hardware, software, and security.
- Manage technology systems, including:
- Telephones (on-site & digital)
- Facility networking and WiFi maintenance
- Intranet work archive & on-site backup
- East West Players website (WordPress, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, GoDaddy hosting)
- Cloud document sharing (Google Drive, Box, etc.)
- Ticketing printers (Boca) and scanners
- Google Workspace for Nonprofits, Salesforce/PatronManager
- Research and implement new technologies to improve audience engagement and internal workflows.
- Maintain relationships with third-party IT vendors for system support and upgrades.
Rental Management
- Develop and maintain long-term rental relationships for EWP facilities.
- Oversee rental agreements, scheduling, and logistics.
- Serve as the point of contact for all rental inquiries and negotiations.
- Maintain rental facility calendars and coordinate with production staff to ensure availability.
- Provide logistical support for rental events, including staffing and facility setup.
- Ensure rental events comply with EWP’s safety and accessibility policies.
Administrative & Leadership Support
- Provide direct administrative support to the Artistic Director and Managing Director as needed.
- Assist in coordinating logistics for meetings, special events, and internal projects.
- Support the MD in HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and policy updates.
- Serve as a liaison between departments to ensure cross-functional coordination.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in financial management, operations, or nonprofit administration.
- Strong experience in payroll processing, accounts payable, and financial recordkeeping.
- Experience managing ticketing systems (Patron Manager/Salesforce preferred).
- Familiarity with box office operations and audience engagement strategies.
- Understanding of facilities management, office operations, and technology systems.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work independently.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Passion for the arts and commitment to EWP’s mission of uplifting Asian Pacific American voices.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Asian Pacific American history and cultural issues.
- Connection to the Asian American-Pacific Islander-Native Hawaiian community and experience
- Experience working in the arts or non-profit sectors.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as VR or live-streaming for audience engagement.
