    Description

Pennsylvania Policy Center, the state’s leading progressive public policy organization, is looking for a policy and research director to oversee its policy analysis and policy development program. The organization is focused on ensuring that all Pennsylvanians can thrive by promoting public policies that support broadly shared prosperity and that break down the barriers of class, race, gender, and ethnicity to individual, familial, and community well-being.

The Pennsylvania Policy Center uses its expertise in research and policy development to create the tools that political officials, opinion leaders, grassroots organizations, and the people of Pennsylvania need to expand our vibrant democracy, secure our freedom, and seek economic justice in Pennsylvania. Our work, and that of our advocacy campaign, Pennsylvanians Together, is rooted in outreach to Pennsylvanians at the grassroots level to learn about their concerns and in robust and credible public policy research and analysis that identifies the sources of these problems and proposes solutions. These tools enable Pennsylvanians who share our ideals to make their voices heard.

The organization seeks an experienced policy analyst with skills in quantitative analysis and at least an MA and preferably a PhD in economics, economic geography, urban studies, sociology, political science or related fields.

    Applicants should have:

      • demonstrated interest and knowledge of public policies that address economic, gender, and racial inequality with expertise in one or more of the following areas: taxation, regulation of labor markets, education from pre-K to higher education; and social safety net programs (e.g., child care, health care, etc.).
      • strong quantitative skills, including experience analyzing large microeconomic data sets.
      • strong writing skills.
      • good data visualization skills.
      • an ability to make public presentations and to communicate results to non-technical audiences.
      • an ability to work collaboratively with partners that utilize our research.
      • a capacity to manage junior policy and research associates.

The successful applicant must live in Pennsylvania.

This position spans the worlds of academic research and public policymaking. It offers the opportunity to work closely with policymakers, the media, advocates, and networks of skilled progressive public policy analysts from across the country.
