    This is a part-time role (20 hours per week), Monday - Thursday, After-school / Early evening hours. Hours can be changed to daytime during Summer season.

    Lutheran Settlement House (LSH) is a non-profit, community-based organization committed to serving children, adults, and families living in Philadelphia. Within our Jane Addams Place family emergency shelter program, we are seeking a compassionate and dynamic individual to fill the role of a part-time Teen Advocate. The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate programming specifically for pre-teens and teens on site, manage our summer teen work program, and provide support and resources for teens on site. Additionally, the successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert, supporting shelter staff in understanding and managing teen-related concerns within the shelter environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Provide Youth Programming Support:
      • Develop and coordinate on-site programming specifically for teens and pre-teens residing on site at Jane Addams Place
      • Collaborate with teammates on monthly programming calendar
      • Tracking attendance of all teen programming in agency database
      • Provide community resources for pre-teens and teens
      • Communicate with external partners as needed
      • Encourage families to utilize programming and community spaces
      • Promote social-emotional learning activities for teens and pre-teens
      • Participate in weekly supervision and team meetings
    2. Coordinate Summer Teen Work Program:
      • Coordinate activities for Jane Addams Teen Summer Work Program
      • Interview and onboard teens for the program
      • Create the program's daily schedule and ensure activities are building skills and providing real-life work experience
      • Work with staff across Lutheran Settlement House to coordinate activities

    Qualifications:

    • Some college in Social Work, Education, or related field desired but not required
    • Previous experience working with teenagers a strong plus
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Works well with colleagues and external partners
    • Demonstrates respect for cultural, socioeconomic, and individual differences, with a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion
    • Familiarity with Philadelphia resources strongly preferred
    • Flexible scheduling may be required, on occasion, to meet programming needs
