    THE OPPORTUNITY

    The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Human Resources at Community Vision Capital & Consulting. The Human Resources Manager will support the organization in all areas including general HR administration, employee relations, recruiting, onboarding and offboarding, payroll, benefits, leaves of absence, training and development, and enforcing company policies and practices.

    The position regularly requires the use of professional, independent judgment to exercise discretion in matters related to the duties set forth below.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    General Human Resources Administration and Compliance (50%)

    • Serve as the initial point of contact for employees seeking information regarding HR policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate employee leaves and reasonable accommodation requests.
    • Complete EDD forms (e.g., unemployment and disability), and other required reporting.
    • Process worker's compensation claims.
    • Process and track employee changes in the human resources information system (ADP) and ensure that employee records are current and complete.
    • Work with leadership to manage employee relations, including addressing conflict, and providing support with performance management and progressive discipline.
    • Provide support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and update policies and practices to maintain compliance.
    • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
    • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    • Maintain files in accordance with organizational policies.

    Compensation and Benefits (15%)

    • Administer benefits programs, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life and disability plans, flexible spending, health savings accounts, and retirement accounts.
    • Provide guidance and support for accounting staff in administration of semi-monthly payroll, ensuring compliance and accuracy on recordkeeping related to timekeeping and reporting expenses.
    • Ensure that ADP and benefit information is accurate and up-to-date.
    • Oversee open enrollment. This will include working with operations team and benefits broker to review current benefits and any proposed changes, collecting census data, communicating with employees about benefit options and open enrollment deadlines, and tracking enrollment elections.
    • Manage relationships with external benefits broker and providers to ensure staff’s ease of participating in benefits programs.
    • Stay abreast of trends and lead analysis and recommendation of organizational compensation and benefits.

    Recruitment, Onboarding, and Offboarding (15%)

    • Manage recruitment process that meets the organization’s goals and commitment to equity and diversity. This may include the development of recruitment strategies in compliance with applicable law.
    • Provide support, as needed, on writing and editing job descriptions, ensuring management of job descriptions including appropriate salary scales and duties.
    • Manage interview process including but not limited to screening, scheduling, interview questionnaires, rubrics, reference checks, and making offers of employment.
    • Manage and support the onboarding process, including new employee orientation, welcome emails, introductions to programs, training, tours of offices, necessary supplies, and benefits enrollment.
    • Manage and support the offboarding process, including terminating departing employees in ADP and other benefits platforms, offboarding in all relevant platforms used by the organization, conducting exit interviews, and developing other protocols as needed.
    • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

    Training and Development (15%)

    • Coordinate the annual performance evaluation process for the organization, including tracking completion and supporting managers as needed.
    • Create and maintain an organization-wide training calendar. Ensure employee participation in legally and internally required training, certifications, and licensing (e.g., safety, harassment and discrimination prevention, management training, etc.)

    General (5%)

    • Participate in internal work groups as needed to support organizational initiatives.
    • Undertake special projects as requested by the Vice President of Administration and Operations.
    • Develop relationships with relevant community and organizational partners.
    • Engage in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    Ideal qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience required
    • 5-8 years of demonstrated experience in human resources
    • SHRM-CP or PHR Certification
    • Excellent communication and active listening skills
    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
    • Proficient in the MS Office Suite and Google Suite; experience in Salesforce and ADP preferred
    • Project management skills, including the ability to develop scopes of work
    • Effective time management skills, with the ability to handle competing priorities
    • A demonstrated commitment to community centered change and social impact

    MORE ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Human Resources Manager is a full-time, exempt position. This position reports to the Vice President of Administration and Operations. The salary for this position is between $134,550-$148,202 annually, depending on experience.     The position will be based at either of Community Vision’s offices in San Francisco or Oakland, with flexibility for hybrid work. Regular travel to local/regional Bay Area events, meetings, and activities is to be expected as part of this role.

    The position involves regular computer and telephone use plus some minimal lifting.
