    This is a non-profit, start-up launch position. Raising the overall budget (working with founding Chairman and Advisors) is part of the role.

    Description

    The Future of Employment & Income Institute is a new initiative born out of the resounding success of the "AI and the Future of Employment and Income" Virtual Roundtable in July 2024. The Institute will be a thought-leading platform built around "technological unemployment" in the age of AI. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Managing Director to lead the launch and initial operations of this groundbreaking Institute.

    Key Responsibilities (working with the founding Executive Chairman (Jim Clark) and over a dozen highly respective, prominent Advisors):

    • Strategic Leadership:
      • Work to develop and then execute a comprehensive strategic plan for the Institute’s launch and early growth.
      • Define key priorities, goals, and milestones.
    • Operational Management:
      • Oversee the establishment of the Institute’s organizational infrastructure, including operational policies and procedures.
      • Build and manage a high-performing team as the Institute grows.
    • Fundraising and Financial Sustainability:
      • Lead efforts to secure initial and ongoing funding to support the Institute’s mission.
      • Cultivate relationships with philanthropic organizations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.
      • Develop grant proposals and manage fundraising campaigns, leveraging the support of the founding Executive Chairman and Advisors.
    • Program Development:
      • Design and launch innovative programs, events, and research initiatives aligned with the Institute’s mission.
      • Foster partnerships with academic institutions, think tanks, policymakers, and industry leaders.
    • Stakeholder Engagement:
      • Serve as a key public face of the Institute, representing its mission at conferences, events, and in the media.
      • Work closely with the Institute’s founding Executive Chairman and the distinguished Advisory Board.

    Ideal Candidate Profile:

    The ideal candidate will possess a rare combination of entrepreneurial drive, strategic vision, and a passion for shaping the future of work and economic equity. Key qualifications include:

    • Leadership Experience: Proven track record in executive or senior management roles, preferably in a nonprofit, think tank, or policy-oriented organization.
    • Fundraising Expertise: Demonstrated ability to secure significant funding from diverse sources, including foundations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.
    • Subject Matter Knowledge: Strong understanding of topics related to employment, income distribution, AI, and the future of work.
    • Relationship Building: Exceptional skills in cultivating partnerships and engaging with high-level stakeholders across sectors.
    • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to launch and grow a new organization with creativity, resourcefulness, and resilience.
    • Communications Savvy: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience with public speaking and media engagement.
    • Alignment with Mission: Passion for addressing the societal challenges and opportunities at the nexus of technology and economic inclusion.
