    Description

    This position is supervised by the Director of Development.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    The Development Assistant supports Sandy Spring Museum’s (SSM) donor and membership program with the goal of increasing SSM’s capacity for fundraising. The Development Coordinator is responsible for donor and prospect research and prospect management: identifying, researching, and analyzing prospects for donor cultivation and solicitation. The coordinator will also be involved with stewardship activities related to fundraising and relationship management, including working with a team to create and implement the fundraising, development and communications strategy.

    Individual Donation Development

    • Support Director of Development in creating and maintaining a fundraising calendar, including but not limited to annual fundraising campaigns, membership recruitment and renewal, donor cultivation activities, and special events.
    • Coordinate SSM’s fundraising-related special events: manage mailing and invitations, RSVP tracking, nametags and event set-up, follow up messages, etc.
    • Manage SSM’s CRM platform: accurate gift entry and timely acknowledgements, membership renewal and processing, update donor/membership information and maintain records, run patron and donation reports.
    • Support leadership gifts, foundation, and corporate sponsorship activity by tracking assignments, outreach, follow up, requests, and stewardship.
    • Run regular screening reports and conduct basic prospect/donor research to verify screening results.
    • Provide ongoing fundraising reports that help inform the strategic direction of future initiative

    Community Engagement

    • Participate in the programming and other events of the SSM as needed. Help with greeting supporters and ensure VIPs are acknowledged properly.
    • Coordinate proper pre and post fundraising event messaging, including emails, mailings, etc.
    • Help design and edit donor messaging in materials that include flyers, brochures, social media and email, etc.

    Other duties as needed

    • Support with foundation grant strategy and maintain grant calendar
    • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to drive overall mission of the museum
    • Be a member of the team and help as needed
