    Description

Do you believe in the power of youth to change the world? Join The Changemaker Project and help us empower the next generation of changemakers!

    About Us:

The Changemaker Project is a social entrepreneurship program that helps students make a positive impact on their community. We educate students about the multitude of social justice issues affecting people, animals, and the environment—from discrimination and social inequity to animal exploitation and food justice—and empower them to create meaningful solutions.

Over the course of the school year, our students form teams to tackle an issue they care about using Stanford’s Design Thinking process. They conduct empathy interviews in their community to understand the problem first-hand, and develop innovative solutions.

Each February, we host a Global Pitch event, where teams pitch their social impact projects for a chance to win funding. We then pair them with mentors who help them launch and implement their projects over the Spring semester.

In addition to our youth program, we now have a Visionaries Institute which supports adult changemakers who are starting nonprofits and social ventures. Over the past seven years, we’ve empowered thousands of changemakers in 35+ countries to #bethechange they wish to see.

    The Position:

Our founder and current Executive Director will be leaving for a Fulbright Scholarship in early January and stepping back from the ED role. We are looking for an interim ED to lead the organization and help it grow over the next 4-6 months, ideally expanding the program to hire and manage a team of regional directors. If successful in fundraising and managing the program, there is an opportunity for the candidate to transition to a more permanent ED position. Start date is flexible (between now and Jan. 1st, 2025).

    Qualifications of an ideal candidate:

    • Track record of success in nonprofit fundraising
    • Experience leading and growing an educational nonprofit
    • Experience developing school and district partnerships
    • Experience working in international contexts with diverse stakeholders
    • Experience working with high school students and teachers
    • Passion and commitment to social, climate, and racial justice

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    1. Fundraise through foundation grants, giving campaigns, and corporate sponsorships.
    2. Develop strategic partnerships with schools, districts, ministries of education, and youth-serving NGOs.
    3. Grow our Visionaries Program and develop funding channels for our fellows.
    4. Facilitate monthly Zoom calls to support students, teachers, and fellows as they build their projects.
    5. Organize, promote, and secure sponsors for our Global Pitch event (on Zoom) in February and our Changemaker Showcase in June.
    6. (Long-term): Hire and manage a team of regional program directors to build and lead in-person programs in their geographic regions.
