    Description

    Village Preservation, a NYC-based nonprofit, is seeking an experienced, highly motivated

    Communications and Design Director to expand our capacity. Village Preservation was founded in

    1980 to document, celebrate, and preserve the architectural and cultural heritage of Greenwich

    Village, the East Village, and NoHo. This is a newly-created position in a growing organization with an

    annual budget of $1.8 mil. and staff of 11. Position reports to the Executive Director and will work with

    the current and continuing Communications and Design Director, other staff members, and board-led

    committees.

    Responsibilities:

    • Development and design of printed and electronic materials, including membership materials, PowerPoint presentations, electronic and printed newsletters and annual reports, educational and advocacy materials, infographics, press releases, and reports
    • Managing, organizing, and updating website, including search engine optimization, Shopify site, and advocacy letter platform
    • Designing and laying out electronic communications and ongoing analysis of effectiveness and engagement
    • Creating online engagement tools including apps, maps, and other interactive features
    • Producing videos for web and social media and other public engagement
    • Effectively strategizing and expanding the organization’s social media, including content creation
    • List maintenance, systems building, and HTML-coded e-communications for Salesforce database platform
    • Assisting in training and managing interns on communications systems
    • Managing printing and mailing jobs
    • Managing and updating press list, helping formulate media strategies, designing materials for press engagement, generating ideas and content for media engagement

    Qualifications

    • High degree of proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications; WordPress; Google Suite; PowerPoint
    • Proficiency in ArcGIS, Esri StoryMaps, and other mapping programs
    • Experience with MailChimp or related email applications, nonprofit advocacy software, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite
    • Knowledge of Salesforce's Non-Profit Support Pack Programs, Pardot, Premier Success, Python or other related programming languages a plus
    • Ability to research and learn new software and programs
    • Experience with various social media platforms and a track record of growing and engaging a following, including Facebook, X, Instagram, Bluesky, and TikTok
    • Experience with video editing and production
    • Experience with media outreach and communications
    • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and work effectively with all stakeholders including staff and board members
    • Interest in and knowledge of historic preservation and the communities of Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo, and their histories a plus
    • Able to work independently and on a team
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    • Experience with printed and electronic materials and online tools
    • The ability to set priorities and juggle multiple projects in a complex, fast-paced, deadlinedriven environment
