    Description

    The Program Manager plays a central role in the development and coordination of USBG programmatic activities and events. The Program Manager works independently and collaboratively with USBG staff to plan, manage, and implement activities. Other responsibilities include supporting communications activities, serving as liaison and USBG representative at meetings, and establishing and maintaining partnerships to advance USBG’s mission. The Program Manager position requires event planning knowledge and experience as well as excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills and the exercise of extensive discretion, independent judgment, and political acumen.

    Job Summary

    The Program Manager plays a central role in the development and coordination of USBG programmatic activities and events. The Program Manager works independently and collaboratively with USBG staff to plan, manage, and implement activities. Other responsibilities include supporting communications activities, serving as liaison and USBG representative at meetings, and establishing and maintaining partnerships to advance USBG’s mission. The Program Manager position requires event planning knowledge and experience as well as excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills and the exercise of extensive discretion, independent judgment, and political acumen.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program and Event Management

    • Manages all activities associated with the assigned Program, including social media outreach, website implementation, etc.
    • Officiates judging for local and national competitions and communicates all program competitors and winners via social media, email, or website postings.

    Budget and Financial Oversight

    • Manages all Program budgets.
    • Reviews detailed budget vs. actual reports for each assigned Program upon completion.

    Meetings and Communication

    • Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of gathering information required to perform functions.
    • Schedules a variety of activities (e.g., meetings, travel arrangements) to meet staff, member, and partner needs.
    • Responds to inquiries from internal and external parties (e.g., staff, partners, members) to provide information, facilitate communication, or give direction.
    • Schedule and deliver program communications, including timelines and travel communications.
    • Setting and communicating standards for live events to program stakeholders.
    • Initiates contact and directs communications between local chapters and local sponsor representatives.

    Documentation and Record-Keeping

    • Prepares written materials (e.g., minutes, announcements, emails) to document activities and convey information.
    • Maintains documents, files, and records (confidential and non-confidential) to provide up-to-date reference.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or a related field, with a concentration in Project or Program Management, or 5 years of equivalent work experience.
    • 3-5 years of experience in Project or Program Management, or a similar role.
    • 3-5 years of experience running events from inception to delivery
    • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Experience working in a multi-component organization or association is a plus.
    • Ability to travel for component program events, conferences, and meetings.
    • Knowledge of beverage alcohol laws and marketing codes
    • Technologically proficient. Must be comfortable with virtual collaboration tools, including video conferencing software (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams), data management/productivity platforms (e.g., Formstack, Google Workspace, Smartsheet), and cloud-based file sharing (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox). Candidates should have a strong ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues and quickly adapt to new technologies and virtual environments.
    • Efficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Adobe. Demonstrate ability to quickly create, edit, and format documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
    • Efficiently manage tasks using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Calendar). Proven skill in leveraging Google tools to streamline collaboration, manage workflows, and meet deadlines effectively.

    • Flexibility: Comfortable adapting to changing priorities and needs within the association or component network.
    • Self-Motivation and Management - USBG is a fully remote work environment. Must be able to effectively manage time and priorities.
