    JOB SUMMARY

    Tahirih Justice Center, a non-profit legal services organization, is seeking to hire a Social Services Program Manager. Based out of Tahirih’s Greater DC office, this role will require a high degree of emotional intelligence and discretion to support immigrant women and girls fleeing gender-based violence. In partnership with the Managing Attorney in each local office, this position will co-lead the implementation of the interdisciplinary model to ensure trauma-informed legal representation at Tahirih. The Social Services Program Manager will supervise social services staff and interns; oversee social services program standards, monitor, evaluation and learning; oversee program metrics tracking and reporting; ensure programmatic compliance. The Social Services Program Manager will play a leading role in expanding our outreach and advocacy in local and regional forums; and will assist with grant proposal development and fundraising.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Work with the Director of Client Advocacy, Social Services, to develop, monitor and evaluate programs and services for clients to improve programmatic efficiencies.
    • In collaboration with Managing Attorney, oversee execution of processes and systems within the local office to enable the interdisciplinary client services team to serve clients effectively and efficiently, maximizing internal resources to serve the greatest number of survivors.
    • Develop team workplans, track grant metrics, and ensure program activities are aligned with organizational goals
    • Lead advocacy initiatives and work creatively to elevate clients’ voices to create systemic change.
    • Lead education and outreach activities and represent Tahirih at local coalitions, taskforces and working groups.
    • Contribute to foundation and grant proposal, quarterly reports, donor site visits and audits.
    • Hire, onboard, and supervise social services staff and interns.
    • Mentor and support staff and interns to triage client emergencies, provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and education about victim’s rights to clients.
    • Lead relationship building and maintain up to date resource network to improve client access to housing/shelter, food banks, education, transportation, counseling, medical services, public benefits, Crime Victims Compensation, and other social services available locally.
    • Depending on social services team size and supervision needs, maintain a caseload of 1-5 clients, conduct comprehensive needs assessments, and develop service plans
    • Ensure staff compliance with USCRI partnership agreements and, if applicable, help enroll clients in USCRI’s Trafficking Victims’ Assistance Program (TVAP), oversee ongoing administrative tasks and case-management related to USCRI TVAP provision
    • Write letters of support for clients, as needed.
    • Ensure program staff maintain regular communication with clients through regular calls and in-person meetings to provide social services case-management.
    • Ensure program staff maintain clients’ confidential records, input case notes, regularly update Tahirih’s case intensity matrix, and referral and resource database.
    • Additional responsibilities (may vary by office) in support of the implementation of the interdisciplinary model in addition to those outlined above.

    Requirements

    Education

    • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related mental health field.

    Experience

    • Five or more years of relevant experience providing direct social services or crisis management services to survivors of trauma.
    • At least three years of experience directly supervising social services staff and interns who work with survivors of trauma.
    • At least two years of experience with program development, implementation, and evaluation
    • Experience working on or leading interdisciplinary teams, including serving clients with multiple engaged service providers such as attorneys and mental health professionals.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and record of cultural competence and cross-cultural communication skills.
    • Strong public speaking skills, and designing and providing trainings for a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
    • Experience with government and foundation grant reporting and deliverables.
    • Exemplary time management and prioritization skills.
    • Ability to creatively problem-solve under pressure.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated experience building strong partnerships with local providers to ensure client access to services in the community.
    • Experience conducting systems advocacy with and on behalf of immigrant survivors of gender-based violence.
    • Experience writing grant proposals.
    • Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken); additional language a plus.
