We organize around health, housing, education, environmental justice, community and economic development and other issues impacting our communities.

Sistas & Brothas United (SBU), the youth organizing arm of the Northwest Bronx Community & Clergy Coalition (NWBCCC), was founded 26 years ago to develop the leadership of young people and address issues impacting their lives through the lens of racial and economic justice. Through political education, skill-building, and organizing campaigns, SBU empowers young people to think critically and independently while leading powerful movements for justice at the local, citywide, and national levels.

The Youth Organizer will focus on direct outreach, leadership development, and supporting campaigns, while the Lead Youth Organizer will conduct outreach and leadership development, and will also take on more strategic leadership and campaign development responsibilities.

    • Organize public actions, events, and campaigns around educational justice, economic democracy, and racial justice, working closely with youth leaders and allied stakeholders.
    • Build relationships with schools, faith institutions, and local organizations to support campaign work.
    • Participate in and support membership meetings, political education workshops, and community-building events.
    • Maintain organizing records, contribute to grant reports, and support fundraising efforts as needed.
    • Supervision & Strategic Leadership (Lead Level Only): Supervise junior staff or interns, oversee campaign strategy development, and guide the organization’s youth organizing efforts.

    Requirements:

    For Junior Youth Organizer:

    • 1-2 years of experience in youth organizing or community organizing
    • Strong relationship-building, communication, and facilitation skills
    • Passion for social justice and youth leadership development
    • Ability to work work evenings and weekends as necessary
    • This position is 100% in-person; the organizer must be physically present in the Bronx to conduct outreach, build relationships, and mobilize community members.

    • 2-3+ years of experience in youth organizing, campaign strategy, and leadership development
    • Ability to develop and implement organizing strategies
    • Experience leading public engagement efforts, such as canvassing, phonebanking or event organizing
    • Experience supervising staff or leading teams preferred
