    The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is looking for a passionate and strategic communications leader who is committed to women’s economic empowerment to join our team as Head of Communications and Marketing. This is a fixed term role covering a maternity leave for 13 months.

    About the role:

    As Head of Communications and Marketing you will lead the communications team to deliver a high-impact strategy to promote the work of the Foundation. You will manage the continuous evolution of the Foundation’s profile and brand, coordinating and delivering compelling content for a range of audiences across all channels. You’ll work closely with senior leadership to align the Foundation’s goals to the work of the team to support the delivery of our mission to empower women to start, grow and sustain successful businesses.

    Essential criteria:

    • Previous experience designing organisational marketing communications strategy.
    • Demonstrate experience translating a marketing and communications strategy into plans and delivery which means agree goals – including setting and measuring against effective KPIs for audience groups.
    • Experience in using digital tools for communications and analytics.
    • Experience working effectively with a range of key audiences in a multi-channel communications environment, including reporting to donors, liaising with project partners, engaging beneficiaries, and building influence with key stakeholders.
    • Charity communications management experience, including overseeing digital media channels, audience development, branding, media/press and content creation.
    • Excellent literacy, copywriting and proofreading skills, with proficiency in English language and demonstrable capability in writing for a wide variety of audiences and purposes, to suit different channels and materials.
    • Expertise in the design and delivery of marketing plans to drive new business and user engagement for products and services
    • Strong working knowledge of co-ordinated and professional use of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
    • Strong knowledge of good graphic design, branding and printing practice.
    • End-to-end project development and management experience, particularly communications, marketing or fundraising campaigns.
    • Solid understanding of GDPR and how this relates to communications activities.
    • Understanding of organisational and reputational risk and brand management.
    • Knowledge of good web content practice.
    • Fluency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Proven ability to work across teams and line-manage a small team of staff.
    • Commitment to the values and strategy of the Foundation.

    Desirable criteria:

    • Understanding of how to use WordPress.
    • Proven track record in leading on successful media interventions.
    • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to women’s economic empowerment, and ability to communicate these.
    • A track record of creating successful fundraising and/or donor cultivation materials.
    • Experience creating and managing budgets with a good level of financial literacy and a sound understanding of basic financial processes.
    • Previous experience of working for an international and or feminist, anti-racist organisation.
