    Description

    Development Associate

    Domus is a nonprofit helping nearly 1000 young people achieve self-sufficiency through school engagement and workforce development services.

    The Development Associate is responsible for all administrative aspects of development and communication activities. The Development Associate will manage donor database, coordinate fundraising activities and assist with social media and communications content. The Development Associate will be a key member of the development team working to accumulate and maintain the resources necessary to fully fund our programs that help to improve our youth outcomes.

We help them develop skills to overcome obstacles that get in their way, we hear their voices, and advocate for them to get what they need and deserve to be successful.

    Responsibilities include:

    Donor Database Management

    • Maintain donor database in Raiser’s Edge, including updating records, entering gifts and preparing acknowledgement letters and other correspondence
    • Oversee logistics for direct mail including stewardship and solicitations
    • Manage relationships on database and communicate accordingly with various stakeholders
    • Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files (on database and hard files)
    • Coordination with Finance Department to reconcile donations weekly, ensure donations are properly classified
    • Run monthly reports and dashboards (audit, board, program-specific and general operating revenue)
    • Coordinate productions and mailing of annual appeal and events
    • Serve as an effective ambassador for Domus and as a contact for donors, helping to resolve problems, questions, and concerns
    • Provide regular updates of incoming donations to Executive Director, Deputy Director and finance team

    Events Management

    • Work directly with Deputy Director to plan and execute events which contribute to the organization’s fundraising objectives
    • Coordinate vendors and vendor payments necessary for events and other development needs
    • Maintain calendar of events and ensure the development team remains on track for event deadlines
    • Coordinate electronic advertising, e-communication, print materials and mailings for all events
    • Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for fundraising events
    • Maintain historical data of event attendees and revenue raised
    • Provide development team with up-to-date status reports prior to events
    • Help to ensure that fundraising events effectively communicate the organization’s impact on our target youth
    • Attend all fundraising events and coordinates registration and volunteer teams
    • Serve as point person at all major events
    • Provide appropriate post-event analysis
    • Attend community partner events and serves as a representative of Domus

    Communications

    • Work with Deputy Director to keep social media up to date with ongoing Domus activities
    • Coordinate donor directed communications and delivery
    • Assist with preparation of annual report
    • Other duties assigned by Executive Director and Deputy Director

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The work schedule will require the Development Associate to attend all fundraising events. This position will be based on-site in our administrative offices in Stamford, CT.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • Experience working with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software
    • Experience with event management
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience working for a non-profit organization highly preferred
    • Ability to collect and respond to required data
    • Commitment to the Domus mission, values and core principles
    • Strong Microsoft Office Skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Experience with various social media platforms preferred
    • Strong work ethic and time management skills
    • Flexibility and adaptability with proven ability to shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people and organizations
    • High emotional intelligence with proven ability to work with diverse individuals from different backgrounds
    • Ability to receive and respond to constructive feedback
    • Ability to work fundraising and community events as needed, during nights and weekends
