    Description

    Youth Program Site Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of youth programming at Faneuil Gardens, one of the (2) Boston Housing Authority Developments in Allston Brighton. This program is funded through a state grant focused on the positive youth development of young people. This program provides an opportunity for the Program Site Coordinator to work with tenant organizations, Boston Housing Authority, and community partners to deliver a high quality and creative youth development program. We aim to provide programming to youth holistically by fostering a supportive community, running life skills and workshops, while providing opportunities for civic engagement and community service. The Youth Program Supervisor will be expected to work as part of a team in shaping, managing, and promoting an effective, quality youth program for youth at the Faneuil Gardens site. The Youth Program Supervisor reports to the Deputy Director.

    This program seeks to provide academic support, arts education, financial empowerment, leadership training, and civic engagement opportunities. We are looking for creative, energetic, and motivated individuals to help us develop and deliver youth programs to foster the social-emotional, intellectual, and artistic growth in young people!

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Program Management and Operations:

    • Shape and maintain quality youth development program at both Faneuil Gardens youth program site
    • Meet regularly with Youth Program Specialists to co-plan weekly workshops, address youth needs, and manage data and assessment.
    • Coordinate special events, activities, and enrichment opportunities (such as college visits, community service opportunities, field trips, etc.)
    • Coordinate regular on-site check-ins and site visits on an ongoing basis; being sure to ensure that the site has the necessary supplies and tools needed to run programming.
    • Work in collaboration with the Faneuil Gardens tenant organization as it relates to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the youth programs and ensure their informed on program calendar and dates.

    Supervision:

    • Assist in hiring, screening and supervising potential program partners, volunteers and youth program coordinators
    • The Youth Program Site Coordinator will report directly to the Deputy Director and will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the Youth Program Coordinators at that site.

    Creative Instruction and Youth Support:

    • Implement the Brighton Future Forward (BFF) program in collaboration with Youth Program Coordinators.
    • Responsible for ensuring that youth program specialists and volunteers are maintaining a safe program space for youth; implementing strategies for social-emotional wellbeing.
    • Work with team to develop and implement program curriculum, which could include weekly art workshops, as well as life skills workshops (college and career exploration, goal setting, budgeting, healthy relationships, etc.)

    Data Monitoring

    • Maintain daily, bi-weekly, monthly, and annual data regarding youth participation, referrals, length of stay in program, outcomes, surveys, case notes, etc.

    Other Duties

    • Attend trainings, forums, and other opportunities for professional growth.
    • Carry out other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • 1 or more years of experience in youth development or other relevant field such as direct social services
    • Commitment to racial equity, relationship building, and positive change for young people
    • Passion for youth development, social justice, and civic engagement
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
    • Competency in various computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office and Internet applications
    • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to drive projects forward, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and handle potential conflicts with grace.
    • Able to work on site while the program is in session (Monday – Thursday 3-6:30p)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Humanities, Arts, Social Work or related field
    • 3 or more years of direct experience working with urban youth in a youth development context
    • 1 or more years of direct supervisory experience
    • Experience and/or knowledge working in community-based settings in Allston Brighton
    • Bilingual; Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole or Chinese is preferred
