    Description

    About Hip Hop Caucus

Initiated as a movement in 2004, the Hip Hop Caucus (HHC) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that leverages Hip Hop culture to encourage young people to participate in the democratic process.

Our mission is to use the power of our cultural expression to empower communities who are first and worst impacted by injustice. Our members, as well as our dedicated national team, span the country and globe. We are multiracial and we center our work in BIPOC communities. We span Gen Z, Millennials, and Gen X, and we come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our vision is for racial justice, healthy communities, and a healthy planet.

Our award-winning Respect My Vote! campaign has educated and mobilized hundreds of thousands of young BIPOC voters across eleven election cycles. We also have innovated a free resource for people with a felony record and their loved ones to check their eligibility to vote based on their state.

Our Think 100% platform, focuses on climate and environmental justice activism and storytelling. This award-winning platform has produced and released original content including, “The Coolest Show” podcast, a weekly radio show, four documentary films, a stand up comedy special, the first-ever climate album, live virtual events with hundreds of thousands in attendance, and numerous digital content pieces and series. This storytelling and narrative work supports our campaigns and advocacy work on climate that has successfully stopped fossil fuel infrastructure projects in BIPOC communities and achieved historic climate investments through federal and state advocacy.

Our Good Trouble Dept. platform has successfully advanced public awareness and federal

action on tracking deaths that occur in custody in this country, towards the goal of ending extrajudicial and unnecessary deaths in custody and ultimately ending mass incarceration in this country.

Our Justice Paid in Full economic justice platform is leading the finance and banking sector in redirecting the ow of capital from industries that harm our communities, including fossil fuel and mass incarceration industries, into climate and racial equity investments in communities by increasing access to capital for these projects through Black-owned Banks.

Our breadth of accomplishments re ects our principled approach to organizing, advocacy, and campaigning. HHC pioneers culture and narrative strategy to expand our impact, shows up in solidarity with communities being harmed by systemic injustices, and builds nonpartisan power by engaging voters year-round.

As a multi-issue organization working across democracy, climate and environmental justice, civil and human rights, and economic justice, we are rooted firmly in the belief that intersectionality connects us and together we are the beat of a movement.
