    Description

    CaringKind is seeking an Associate Director of Development to oversee the annual CaringKind New York City Alzheimer’s Walk and all cornerstone athletic events including the NYC Marathon, NYC Half Marathon, and TD Five Boro Bike Tour. As a key member of the Development Team, the Associate Director of Development works to build relationships between the community and CaringKind that strategically align with the mission and provide value to the organization. The Associate Director of Development is responsible for leading initiatives that foster community growth, engagement, and partnerships. Other aspects of the role include project management and providing support to volunteers, walkers, and athletes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute strategies to grow the CaringKind Walk and Athletic Events in which the Associate Director of Development oversees including the overall fundraising goal, attendee goal, and sponsorship goal.
    • Cultivate and strengthen diverse relationships within the community across all levels of donors and clients to foster trust, engagement, and continued participation.
    • Act as a brand ambassador for CaringKind while attending and participating in all work-related events; comfortable with leading small to large groups with mission-driven events.
    • Implement the long-term goals and objectives of the organization’s Strategic Plan to achieve successful outcomes for fundraising development to support organizational programs and services.
    • Provide a high level of support to key partners including major donors, sponsors, honorees, clients, athletes, and walkers.
    • Identify potential new donors and corporate partners that align with our organizational values and cultivate relationships with them to gain their support.
    • Responsible for creating and maintaining sponsor, donor and volunteer relationships.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the contracted Walk logistics team to achieve a well-organized and successful CaringKind New York City Alzheimer’s Walk.
    • Work closely with The Athlete’s to End Alzheimer’s Team to ensure they receive the support needed to meet and exceed the required fundraising minimum and their personal fundraising goals.
    • Ensure all necessary documentation, permits, applications, and contracts are submitted and executed by specified deadlines with external organizations, such as NYC Parks, NYRR, and TD Five Boro Bike Tour to ensure CaringKind’s participation in the NYC Marathon, Half Marathon, Bike Tour, and The CaringKind New York City Alzheimer’s Walk.
    • Work closely with finance and Development team to ensure all revenue and expenses are within budget.
    • Plan and lead regular Athletes to End Alzheimer’s cultivation networking opportunities to strengthen the ATEA community.
    • Work with any community partners and volunteers committed to developing a supporter event benefiting CaringKind and providing any support they need to ensure the success of the event.
    • Always maintain a positive presence and represent the organization in a professional manner.
    • Maintain accurate records of donor information and collaborate closely with the Finance Team to ensure seamless communication and transparency between the donors and the organization.

    Minimum requirements

    • A minimum of 4 years of Development, fundraising, and partnership experience preferred, ideally gained in a nonprofit organization.
    • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience in Event Planning. Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of Walk and athletic events, including participant recruitment, route planning, logistics, and volunteer management.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Classy, and other relevant software.
