Program Coordinator

FPWA, a leading anti-poverty, social policy, and advocacy organization fighting for economic equity for all New Yorkers, seeks an experienced and visionary Director for Communications & Public Affairs. This role will lead the development and execution of FPWA's internal and external communications, grow its brand identity and visibility, and elevate its national profile on specific systems policy issues.

FPWA engages in research and analysis-driven policymaking and advocacy; program and practice testing to inform policy change; strengthening capacity to build more effective and responsive organizations; and, raising awareness, educating and mobilizing on the issues and policies that most impede economic security and well-being.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Program Coordinator plays an integral role in supporting the work of the Programs Team. Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator will aid in the development and execution of trainings, capacity building (i.e. research, outreach, event coordination, giving presentations, registration and attendance data management, etc.) and program grants (i.e. corresponding with grant recipients, processing orders and invoices, data entry, preparing check requests and finance reports, etc.).

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Capacity Building:

• Identify and liaise with potential speakers and panelists.
• Stay up to date on relevant conversations, concepts, and best practices related to trauma-informed, people-centered and equity-driven practices.
• Develop and revise content for trainings and written resources.
• Co-facilitate virtual and in-person trainings.
• Coordinate the outreach and registration processes for our Foundational Trainings (virtual), Specialized Convenings (in-person), and other program-related events.
• Collect and manage data lists, including contacts, registration, attendance, and survey data.
• Support in distributing and marketing our written resources.
• Collaborate with the Communications Team on the design of outreach materials, website updates, and other program communication needs.

Program Grants:

• Process payment requests and liaise with the Finance Department.
• Maintain ongoing communication with grant program participants and stakeholders, including aging adults, landlords, college students, FPWA member agency staff, social workers, and faith leaders.
• Recruit applicants when grant programs have openings, guide them through the application process, review applications and select grant recipients.
• Track grant-related data for both internal and external distribution (i.e. funds distributed, recipient demographics, etc.)

General:

• Serve as a thought partner in capacity building and program grant quality improvement conversations.
• Maintain involvement in coalitions relevant to the Program Team’s work, such as POPFAE (Private Organizations Providing Financial Assistance to the Elderly) and the New York City Resilience Collaborative.
• Other duties as identified or assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:

• 2-3 years of related professional experience in nonprofit program administration or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and proactively, both internally and externally.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, people-centered, and equity-driven practices.
• Experience coordinating, developing and/or facilitating trainings, workshops or similar events.
• An excellent team player; proven ability to develop effective working relationships.
• Ability to balance competing projects, prioritize effectively and adhere to deadlines.
• Ability to think critically and creatively, offering ideas and solutions to obstacles.
• Familiarity with:
  • Zoom and/or other virtual meeting platforms.
  • SurveyMonkey, Classy, or other registration and survey platforms.
  • Salesforce, Excel, or other data management and evaluation platforms.
  • Microsoft Office Suite - PPT, Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.
• Experience in data management, grants and financial assistance programs.
• Strong commitment to ongoing learning, equity and social justice.
• Working knowledge of nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and human service workers across NYC a plus.
• Meticulous attention to detail.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

• Salary range: $ 63,000 minimum to $ 73,000 maximum, commensurate with experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• As part of building a culture where employs can do their best work, FPWA currently employs a hybrid model. Employees are in-office twice per week and senior leadership is in-office three times per week. We observe a company-wide remote day on Fridays. The Program Coordinator will be expected to be in-office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
