    Amana Academy Charter School is anticipating openings for the 2025-26 school year. Amana Academy is a thriving Expeditionary Learning School with 2 campuses in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Now celebrating our 20th year, Amana Academy’s Alpharetta Campus serves a diverse group of 700+ students in grades K-8. Amana Academy’s West Atlanta Campus is located in Smyrna and will serve grades KG-6.

    About Amana:

    • High academic achievement delivered using the Expeditionary Learning Schools methodology

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Provides instruction for students that enables them to learn and demonstrate mastery of the Arabic language.

    The Foreign Language in the Elementary School/Language through Content (FLES/LTC) Program helps students learn a world language through Science and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) integrated content. The program provides language learning opportunities to all students from grades K through 6th at Amana’s West campus and K through 8th at Alpharetta campus.

    The goal of FLES/LTC is to develop students’ language proficiency and 21st century skills by teaching World Languages through STEAM, with a strong emphasis on Science. Teachers use Project-Based Learning to help students learn another language while developing skills in all areas. This model supports the five goal areas of the national standards for world language (communication, culture, connections, comparisons, and communities).

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Prepares and plans for instruction of Arabic classes
    • Advocates on the importance of the Arabic language in a Global Economy and seeks to provide unique opportunities to study the Arabic language outside of the regular classroom setting
    • Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on FLES curriculum model
    • Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area
    • Exhibits knowledge of performance-based instruction and assessment
    • Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
    • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
    • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
    • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Works collaboratively with other teachers
    • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
    • Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program
    • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
    • Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
    • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
    • Certification/Licensure: Valid Georgia Teaching Certification for area of specialization required
    • Experience: 2+ years of classroom experience preferred
    • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Proven communication and instructional strategies
    • Classroom management skills
    • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
    • Excellent organizational skills

    Working Conditions for Amana’s Alpharetta campus:

    • Amana’s flagship campus is located in a renovated shopping plaza, minutes from Alpharetta City Center and City Hall
    • The building sits adjacent to 92-acre Wills Park, and teachers are expected to integrate this beautiful resource into daily activities, classroom instruction and expedition work where possible.

    Working Conditions for Amana’s West Atlanta campus:

    • Staff must be comfortable teaching and leading students in both an indoor and outdoor setting.

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
    • Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
    • May require stooping or crouching
